do you know that Pocahontas ended marrying someone else? she got married to John Rolfe

Romeo and Juliet, well, both died without a chance to have a life

Esmerelda and Phoebus, in "the real story" Phoebus never loved her, just wanted to have sex with her, at the end, Gudule finds out she is the mother of Esmeralda(Esmeralda was kidnapped when a baby)The guards arrive ready to kill Esmeralda, and Gudule pleads for them to show Esmeralda and herself mercy. Gudule follows the guards to the scaffold, kicking and biting along the way. A guard pushes her, causing her to hit her head, resulting in her death.

Back at Notre Dame, Quasimodo is still frantically looking for his friend(Esmeralda). He goes to the top of the north tower and finds Frollo there. Quasimodo notes Frollo's demented appearance and follows his gaze, where he sees Esmeralda in a white dress, hanging from the scaffold.

Oma and Shu, Shu got killed while warring between the war of the 2 villages, were never able to get married

Zutara is about an exiled prince meeting a girl who aides his enemy. He's troubled inside, and the girl wants to help him (CoD). He struggles and struggles, and finally he joins the girl's side. Besides, opposites attract. (fire, water; prince, peasant {in Zuko's old mind}. I summed it up into a few sentences, so it's not detailed but that's what it is. Oh, and I ship Kataang.
yes, but i want an answer from a zutarian.

Here's what's appealing about it for me. Zuko has never really been evil. He just thought that the Fire Nation was the good guys and that they were helping the world via the war. Betraying Iroh at CoD was the first time I think he ever saw himself as having done something authentically evil. He has a lot of character and even spoke up against a military general in his father's war room in an attempt to save FN soldiers. Because of that, Ozi did...well, Ozi did what he did. He lost his mother, which left his father, who favored Azula more, as his only parent. He really has had to struggle to make it to where he is and his character shows that. Even his enemies have acknowledged that he never gives up.

Aang ran away from his responsibilities because he didn't want to be the avatar. Once he woke up from the iceberg, he's basically tried turning everything into a game as much as possible. Now, there's nothing wrong with fun every now and then, but it's too much when the world's fate is at stake. Even now, he isn't responsible. Zuko had to convince him to go all the way through with the task during TFM.

Katara has lost her mother, had her father leave to go to war, had to teach herself waterbending for a very long time, and knows when to take things seriously and when to have fun. Even when Zuko hung her mom's necklace in front of her, she picked the safety of her friends over the necklace. At the North Pole, she stood up against Pako (sp?) and the entire culture for her right to learn waterbending as a martial art. She's a person who is willing to give second chances to people, values the safety of people who need her over her own guaranteed well-being, and has come very, very far as a waterbender.

(God, listen to me. I'm talking as if these characters really exist. :p )

Basically, Zuko's got character and he deserves the girl that's got it too. A lot of times, when the spotlight is on them for the episode, they're fighting uphill battles. Aang's challenges, to learn all the differnt bending arts, seems to come so easy to him and his character shows that. It hardly takes him more than an episode to get good at it.

I'm not saying that Aang should be punished for being gifted, I'm saying that Zuko and Katara should be rewarded for having the personalities that they have.

So they should be together because you like their personalities and struggles? And oh please, "Zuko's always been good." He's been hunting down and trying to kill Aang as recent as season 3. He hired an assassin to kill Aang, just to cover himself! He betrayed Iroh, the only man who ever loved him, for what? For his evil dad's love? Zuko's been doing what's best for himself. And Aang, HIS father figure died. He was forced into this Avatar job, the whole world resting solely on him. I think you could understand why he might be afraid of that and want to ignore it at times.

Alright, let's say you were raised in Zuko's shoes. His life from childhood was a struggle to impress his father, constantly failing in comparison to his sister. Then, at his one oppurtunity to step up and prove himself, his father finds his outburst dishonorable. His own son will not face him in battle because in his mind, he feels it is not right. He is banished for doing what he THOUGHT was right in the beginning. For trying to help others and put their needs before his own. It's only logical that from that point on, he would try to correct this "error" in judgement by doing what his father beckons, no exceptions whatsoever. Zuko lost all free will the moment he disobeyed. He only cared about mending his past from that point forward because he no longer cared about what he himself wanted (as he did originally, which was to help others). He could only care about what his father wanted. Zuko saw no other right way to fix what happened. Yes, it does seem selfish. But at the same time, tracing it back to where it started, Zuko was well intentioned and did not have a selfish purpose. I'm not saying that Zuko's actions as the seasons progressed were "good." I'm just saying that he was well intentioned in the beginning, and I think we owe him credit there.

And I wouldn't expect Zuko to just say (previous to where we are currently in Season 3) "You know what? I'm going to go live my own life away from the FN. Forget my dad and the fact that I completely dissappointed him and all I want is for him to be happy and proud of me. I'm going to help this random kid I don't even know just so I can irritate my family even more." I think Zuko would see it as even more selfish to go off and follow that path (the one I just made up) than to try to help his father, since he believed to have done his father a great disservice. He would feel wrong to follow a path other than finding the Avatar because it would essentially be what Zuko himself wants to do. We know now that what Zuko truly wants is to help Aang defeat his father.

I agree with you about Aang. It's very obvious he's afraid of his duties, and who wouldn't be. At the same time, if you are simply "given" a duty that you have no say in, I could see why he would want to rebel and try to escape from it. It's not fair that it's solely up to him to change things and miss out on childhood. And having other people tell you that you "have to" do something doesn't exactly sweeten the deal.

    That's just my opinion.

i'm sorry, i just really can't see tokka happening. sure it's cute that toph has a crush on sokka, but sokka is with suki, and unless she dies tokka can't happen, because i really can't see them just breaking up. but even if suki did die, would sokka really be able to get over that and begin a relationship with toph in only 8 episodes? i doubt it. that's why i ship george.
plus i really can't get over the age difference, or the height difference. with katara and aang it's only 2 years and like 2 inches, with sokka and toph it's about 4 years and 4 inches. i'm sorry, i just can't see it. it's like zack+maddie from suite life.

Well your not the only one, it seems most people ship George (48% to be exact) from the poll. I don't care what people say, sure Tokka is cute, but the time that Sokka and Suki spend onscreen together seems so much more viable for a relationship. The thought of her being in trouble still provoked Sokka to attack Azula as recently as Day of Black Sun. Azula was sure hitting a sore spot. Personally i'm hoping Suki is alive and well (recent evidance points towards this) so Sokka can FINALLY be happy with his love life.

And ...come on Sokka deserves it.

    GEORGE FTW!

    And also Kataang and Maiko

Now, I realise it could be really desperate, but some farfetched discussion point could be that this is a sign of Toph in the end ending up with Aang. (Personally I have high doubts because, well...these two don't seem lovers at all)

Ofcourse a reason for Zutarians to say Aang could end up with Toph, then he isn't lonely, and Katara could end up with Zuko.

Personally, I think it's unlikeable, however, Zutara is in my heart, whether it happens or not, I'm a Zutarian, only not of this kind that desperately needs to 'proof it to happen'.

O_O......Toph is an AIRBENDER...hehehe...J.K. But Taang will not happen, because Aang respects Toph. Also, it's been noted that the Avatar draws people to him that have been with him in his past lives. Examples: Roku's Waterbending Master. Sokka=master, though he sorta looks like Pakku.

Next Is the Northern Air Temple with Gyatso. Do I really need to explain?

    Roku's Earthbending Master is I don't Know=Toph

Toph is like R's EBM in many ways, and they were lifelong friends. (proves Not Taang)

    Last is Ta Min=Katara. Love!!

    Anger Katara!

So this also is another point of Kataang.

Wow I love your explanation. They do have alot in common. But I think Zuko is a little to angry and tough to go with Katara. Katara is able to handle Aang's personality realy well. Mai is able to ahndle Zuko's personality really well also. I dont like Zutara because I like Maiko and Kataang way better. Aand I dont think they make a good couple.

(Sheesh, I take like five minutes to write up a post, and 10 more people post in the meantime, lol. So this post is kinda irrelevant to the previous one, but it does answer the 'why do you like zutara' question)

Well, I just think Zutara will happen because I like the couple, and so I see things in the show that can be interpreted as foreshadowing for the couple. I'm not even going to try to explain any of them, because mean kataangers will just shoot them all down straight away However, this is a lot of things that could be foreshadowing for Zutara, and if they weren't foreshadowing they don't have any real purpose. And if they had no purpose other than to lead Zutarians on, I think that's just cruel - esepcially when this has happened throughout the 3 seasons.

Like Zuko's small smile when he sees Katara in WAT. As he rarely smiles, you could interpret that as he was glad to see her (even though she attacked him earlier). If it was just some random thing, its just pointless for someone who rarely smiles to suddenly smile at someone who quite happily attacked them (other than to stir up Zutarians).

Another reason I like Zutara is because of its fairytale-ness. Yes, Kataang is adorable and like a fairytale too (the hero getting the girl) but I also love the idea of former enemies finding love with each other (Romeo and Juliet, Esmerelda and Phoebus, Oma and Shu, Pochahontas and John Smith, etc etc). People who are supposed to hate each other, and yet slowly recognise the other's better qualities and fall in love. ^_^

So yes, even though I do like Kataang, and it is cute (and....predictable despite how likeable it really is), I honestly prefer Zutara due to the dynamics of their relationship (yes, even though they are enemies it is still called a relationship), and because I just think it would be more interesting if it did happen. So yes, I shall sit here and wave my Zutara flag ^_^

I'm sorry but I just have to correct you on that first reason because its killing me. I didnt see a smile. The only smile I saw was when Zuko first thought he was joined in the group and after Katara gave in and said he could join. He smiled because he was releived and happy that he was joining the GAangnot because he was going to get to be with Katara.

No, no, no. You missunderstood me. What I meant was, he was living up to his princly duties before he was burned. That showed that he always had character. He had absolutely no idea that the Fire Nation was evil back then.

I was using the princly duties thing to show that he had character, even back then. Which, going back to my argument, shows that he deserves a girl like Katara, who also has a lot of character.

Are you saying that Aang has no character? He has loads of character. How would you feel if you were 12 years old and just found out you were the avatar and your friends wouldn't let you play with them then you found out you were going to be separated from your guardian. Aang ran away because he was confused and scared. I would be like that too but also depressed. He thought he was making things better by leaving his problems behind. Everyone makes mistakes. He to this day still feels bad for running away. Like Katara said it was meant to be. If he wouldn't have run away he would have been killed. He wouldn't have been able to save the air nomads. He was just as powerful at the time as any of the other master airbenders because he only knew airbending. Also Aang is a huge optomist. I don't think Katara would go well with Zuko because he is rarely an optomist which is why he went well with Mai because whe was not an optomist at all then she became a little more optimistic which made Zuko a little happier and more optimistic so they were at the same level. Katara is a big optomist to but she is a little more serious than Aang. However Aang has become really serious and more mature now and lost most of his playful side. Which makes Katara and Aang on the same level now. Also Zuko went off on his own when he wanted to solve one of his problems: Where is his place in the world?

zutarians, what is so appealing about zutara that makes you want to ship it? why zutara?
I'll answer that. They think they can tell the story better than Mike and Brian.
