Yeah, you're going to have to clarify some things there, GLM. I really have no clue as to what that's supposed to signify, other than that it will relate to the last two avatar episodes.

ideally, when you read a fiction book, do you concentrate and get inside the "world created by the words of the book" or you think about who your loved one is, about when you have to go to school(or work), about what will you eat later on and stuff like that at the same time you read?

same thing when going to the avatar state, when one does that, one has to "FOCUS COMPLETELY ON IT" in order to be in complete control, if one goes in avatar state by "EMOTION"(Anger, sadness, fear, danger, shame, jealousy and others), it will be all "defensive" and without exact control, exactly like it happen to Aang in the first chapter of book 2(it was not exactly same in 120, Aang was not in control, but the fish spirit was in control, it was a combination of the fish spirit with avatar state)

let's look at the "bases for the chakras" and how they can be blocked

1 Earth Survival- blocked by fear

2 Water Pleasure- blocked by guilt

3 Fire Will power- blocked by shame

4 Air Love- blocked by grief

5 Sound Truth- blocked by lies

6 Light Insight- blocked by illusion

7 Thought Cosmic Energy- blocked by earthly attachment

notice how all the "blocks" are bases for the "defensive mode for the Avatar State", the one without control

Proof that Zutara is going to happen? All I see is "proof"(notice the quotes) that Kataang won't happen.

Mike and Bryan have said that Katara will either end up with Zuko or Aang*. This means that saying that she will not pick Aang is proof that she will be with Zuzu.

*I'm going by what a lot of people on the board have said. Since they have no reason to lie about this, I trust them.

    Spacerac wrote:
When I said friends first, I was saying that at least some people have to be friends first, and I'll add that a lot of the lasting relationships have a transition from friends to more.
That's when people are friends for a short time before they go to the relationship phase. It's a small transition phase to get a sample of what kind of person they are.

    Spacerac wrote:
He let her touch his scar because she said she could heal it, and also because they were actually getting along. He didn't know Song for anything and I don't recall Jin ever trying to touch Zuko's scar.
I meant that the scar itself is a big deal for him. He hates when people talk about it. Letting her touch it was a huge deal, heal or no heal.

    Spacerac wrote:
"But hey, for Aang, it's just friendship." It might be just friendship now, but we'll still have to see in the next few episodes. IMO I really don't think that Katara and Aang being hinted at so much over the course of the show will just get torn down like that. (I mean real hints.)
In my opinion, if there is even a tenth of the amount of time needed to go from the friend zone to a boyfriend, there are way more than enough episodes for a person a girl hates to become her boyfriend.

    Spacerac wrote:
For all we know, all the romantic stuff between Aang and Katara happened off screen and won't be shown until the finale (borrowing from WiseLad).
I will remember this statement and, because of it, I never want to hear you talking about straw-clutching ever again.

    Spacerac wrote:
I also think that since Aang and Zuko's stories parallel, they also have their own respective love interests. There has been nothing as of yet that shows Zuko broke up with Mai, which would free him up for Zutara if Katara doesn't kill him first.
For now, I have nothing to counter this. As I have said before, that fate of Zuko and Mai's relationship will be definitively answered during BR. However, I believe that it's going to be a break up because the sketch doesn't show them too happy too see each other.

    Spacerac wrote:
"it's harder to go from a good friend to a boyfriend then it is to go from a hated enemy to a boyfriend." subjective opinion.
And so is the argument that there aren't enough episodes left for Zuko and Katara to become more than friends.

    Spacerac wrote:
Also, Zuko was a considerable distance away from Aang when he snapped at him, and plus he couldn't firebend anyway.
So, what, her threat towards him at the end of WAT should have gone:

...You make one step backward, one slip up, give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang, and you won't have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I'll make sure your destiny ends, right then and there. Permanently! Provided that you are within 3 feet of him at the time and/or can still firebend. If one or both of those things don't hold true, feel free to threaten him.

    Spacerac wrote:
Katara has acted motherly toward Aang in the past, but Aang gets the least of it. After reading a couple of Kataang essays (I bet some Zutarians don't read all of Kataang essays because they think they're stupid and vice-versa) you could probably also view Katara as actually looking up to Aang, while occasionally getting frustrated with him.
Meh, I don't read any of the essays, one side or the other. I know why Zuko and Katara are going to be together and I hear all of the same arguments here that I get everywhere else. If there's one that you really want me to read, though, post the link and I'll look at it.

    Spacerac wrote:
I also think that her being motherly included ZUKO in their "Oh let me heal you and make it all better" moment.
So is this an argument for or against the statement that she, subconsciously, thinks of herself as Aang's mother?

    Spacerac wrote:
"1. It's for the fate of the world. The guru would have said "Aang, it's just for while you are in the AS. After that, you can have your attachment again." Bet it turns out to be something Aang had to learn on his own? Therefore making him a stronger Avatar?
*sigh again* See where it says "It's for the fate of the world"? That was specifically to answer the "he has to learn it on his own" argument before it happened. It'd be one thing if Aang just had his own little foe to battle. Then I could see the "learn it on his own" argument having some merit, but people are dying all over. I'm no guru, but if I had a student who was in that situation, I would be ok with bending the rules.

    Spacerac wrote:
And Roku could still go in the Avatar State AFTER he got married, meaning that the marriage was definitely an attachment he had to let go of. Therefore, Aang will be a fully realized Avatar and still be able to be with Katara and repopulate the airbenders. (repopulize isn't a word, I learned something new.)
It's what attaches you the most to this world. Not what attaches you at all. His wife obviously wasn't more attachment-worthy (you know what I'm trying to say) than whatever he had to give up. AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HE HAD TO GIVE UP! As for airbenders, he could train people to be airbenders.

Again, just "proof" against Kataang (observe quotation marks). Even though Mike and Brian said Katara would end up with Zuko or Aang, it is LOGICAL to know that Aang will get her. They also decided not to disclude Aang, and replace him with another, like Longshot. So that defense is gone..now, for what I haven't read, but skimmed, your defence is the AS thingy in 219. Now, if Roku mastered the AS, he had to go through the process. Now we KNOW that he had a crush on someone, but again, he let her go. And guess what, 1st comes love, then comes MARRIGE! Oh, I wonder how that happened. And if you want proof they loved each other, look at the basis for Zutara. ZUKO!!!!(says it like Lo and Li)Now, another fact. Do YOU think, that after all Zuzu has gone through, that he'll decide to steal his great-grandfather's girlfriend? Uhhuh. More likely, that'll trigger the AS, getting rid of your "defense" (again, observe the quotation marks). Next, have you ever heard of LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT? Again, the proof is in YOUR episode. 219 in reborn love is KATARA! Oh, I wonder why M&B put that in there if Zutara shall happen (sarcasm probably...). Now, go through every episode, and FIND A ZUTARA MOMENT that isn't photoshoped...................................................................can't find one, can you! KATAANG SHALL HAPPEN! (Someone flamed me.... *looks pointedly and accusingly and Lindz-Chan*)

Exactly that is my point ... So far only discussed with a subjective perception about the true message of Chakra, either as evidence anti-Kataang and Pro-Zutara or on the contrary as the best prophecy of kataang. The only thing I wanted to suggest is that we should just be patient, why are we talking about the greatest conclusion of Show:

Copy and paste from the interview Bryan Konietzko "Animation World" ...

For the immediate future, though, fans watching the third season unfold can expect the usual "epic, Asian-influenced martial arts, fantastical action, adventurous comedy, and dramatic showings of the four elements!" More seriously, Konietzko assures us that all of the various story arcs will culminate in an exciting conclusion. "Aang is getting ready to own up to his destiny as the Avatar."

I have a book of Metaphysics and it is very interesting that the cultural basis of this reference in the show is very faithful to the real ... In my book says that the purpose of knowledge and mastery of Chakra is the control of the vital energy in terms physical and spiritual in the human body.

Buddhism has otherwise similar regain control of the vital energy and spiritual in the human body, they practiced this through meditation and "entering the state Avatar" in real life is very similar to a "state of initiation" or "enlightenment". OK end to the Off-topic xD

So what you're saying is that Aang can easily just be like 'oh katara baby, let me dump you for a minute or so to save the world, then we can get back together. ok thanks'. Katara is what attaches Aang to this world. For Aang to only give her up temporarily while in the AS and then have his earthly attachment back is practically a mockery of the Avatar. The Avatar is the bridge between the real and spirit world. The Avatar should thus not have anything tying them to either world, so they can fulfill their role as the bridge between the worlds. If Aang is attached to the real world (aka katara) for the majority of the time, he is not fulfilling his duty as the avatar, which, as the show is called Avatar (not Aang: the last airbender) is the whole purpose to the show.

And its not power over love he's choosing. Its his responsibility and love for the world that he must choose over Katara. She may currently be more important to him, but that is precisely why he must permanently give her up as his wordly/romantic attachment. With her in the picture, he is not fulfilling his duty as the avatar.

Besides, imagine what katara would say if she found out Aang wasn't using the AS (and thus not saving the world) because of her. Can you imagine she would let that go? She's not that selfish - she would tell him to move on in order to save the world. She would give up everything to save this world - why shouldn't the Avatar?

Also, not that this is directed at you Spike, but for the people who say 'oh, but Aang doesn't need the AS': Are you kidding me? Do you really think a 12-year-old, no matter if he's the Avatar, can defeat the immensely power Fire Lord with just bending? Come on, knowing the secrets of firebending and the basics of all the elements, (ok, so maybe he'll miraculously master them all too), will not be enough to defeat Ozai. Again, the show is called AVATAR. Thus, the AVATAR is the whole point of the show, and thus a fully-realised avatar (once who can use the AS at will) is necessary to the plot. So no, Aang WILL use the AS again, otherwise we would not have been shown the massive internal conflict about it, nor would the show have the name it does.

Whether he gives up Katara temporarily or forever, it doesnt' matter. What does matter is Aang WILL use the AS again (see the Sozin's comet poster if you don't believe me )

so what you're saying is, aang is going to use the avatar state to defeat firelord ozai? this is what you're saying, isn't it?
    WRONG!
think about it, use your brain! when he's in the avatar state, he has unnaturally powerful bending abilites, he has the power of every avatar who has ever lived! there's no way some 2-bit firelord can stand up to that! aang would win in seconds! there wouldn't even be a need for a 2 hour finale, it would be over in 5 minutes!
if he's just going to glow it up and stomp that firelord (lol c wut i did thar?) then what was the point of learning all 4 elements? he could earthbend pretty fine in the 'state before even beginning it. he can bend all 4 elements with ease in the 'state. you're telling me that we've gone through all of that training just to see him glow a bit and ROFLPWN ozai in seconds without even trying?
there's a reason he's spent the last 3 seasons training, he needs to use his bending to defeat ozai, not spirit magic. aang needs to win with his own skills. that's the very reason his chakra was locked in the first place. the AS is a HUGE plot device. if he can use the AS there's no point in him learning bending, is there?
seriously, stop using that as an argument, it's not a very good one.

That's why the hyped up battle is Avatar State Aang vs. Comet Powered Ozai.

Why do you think they would be hyping up how much it will strengthen firebenders? It's to foreshadow how awesomely sick the match between ASA v CPO will be.

EDIT: Wiseone, every point you just made, that makes sense (wtf are you talking about with Longshot?), has been talked about on the last page. I'm not going to bother repeating myself to someone who isn't going to bother to read what I say.

actually, the most epic match would be comet ozai and normal aang, because it means the protagonist is far weaker than the antagonist. if aang goes glowy even the comet won't be enough to defeat him. azula only managed to take him down by surprise.
the point is, if aang goes glowy it isn't his skills that he's using, it's roku's and kyoshi's and kuruk's and yangchen's and every other avatar before them. what's the point of aang training his skills through 3 seasons if he's just going to get past avatars to do his work for him?

The following sentence is not a lie in any way, it is 100% true. After I read that sentence, I facepalmed myself. This comment was that bad. He was using "over" as a synonym for "instead of".

However, since you have brought us to the topic of exact wording, what do you think of my claim that Sokka's statement about Aang at the end of "The Fortuneteller" is meaningless because he said that Aang was "one powerful bender" and "what a powerful bender", but not a "very powerful bender" like Katara's future husband is supposed to be? After all, Aunt Wu's fortunes have to be taken in exact wording.

    Spike815 wrote:
That implies you keep both, whilst favoring one: ie. His Avatar duty comes before Katara.
He doesn't have to go "B*tch, I'm the avatar now. So get out of my sight." He just has to not feel a strong attachment to her. Because of this, he has to stop being in love with her.

    Spike815 wrote:
And 1 minute or 2 before: Guru: Let the pain flow away. Very good.

So obviously, Aang can no longer feel pain. Or anger, or fear, or tell lies, or be lied to, or have earthly attachments. Yet even AFTER he unlocked the first 6 chakras, he expresses all these.

Don't say I have selective hearing good sir. I have AS facts spanning the show on my side, you have a theory based on a sentence by the Guru.

Aang can still have these feelings on that level because he never ended up completely going into the AS. He was still in that purple sphere when Azula blasted him. That's why he can still have those emotions.

Oh yeah, my... wait, wait. *reads the post over again to make sure I'm getting this right*

... my theory based on a sentence by the Guru. Again, facepalm. You know what? I'll skip the nit picking that it was two sentences (only putting it here because I'm petty) and instead show you why that comment makes no sense.

THE GURU IS EVERYONE'S SOURCE AS TO HOW TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE AVATAR STATE! You can't just keep ignoring the things you don't like to hear. You have to take in everything that the Guru says. If, for some reason, you think that the Guru isn't a good source for how to get to the AS the right way, that's one thing. It's crazy, but it's one thing. However, you've already cited the Guru plenty of times. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You guys are blatantly ignoring the things in the show that go against Aang and Katara being together.

It doesn't matter if it was one sentence or 100. The guru said it. The only people who would have higher knowledge of the AS would be past avatars themselves. So, the only way you can get out of any part of what he said is to cite where a past avatar said "No, that part isn't true."

That's a rather weak argument. The Guru specifically said he cleared those chakras, and he still expresses those emotions.

AND ZOMG WE CAN'T REFUET WHAT THE GURU SAYS!

So he can clear the thought chakra the same way he cleared the past 6 freakin chakras, by using A to unblock B. All he needs to do is understand cosmic Avatar Duty > Katara. The same way used truth over lies, insight over illusions, love over grief. He never lost any of the blocking thoughts, he just overcame them with something else.

Hay all, long time no-speaky Unfortunately Nick has basically succeeded in killing my inner avatar - though to be fair ive been talking to friends (that i see in person ), and a certain girl, alot more

ANYWAY, i ages ago posted (and then blogged) something on this topic and thought i'd repost it to contribute some old ideas

Zutara Possiblity and Aang releasing 7th Chakra (works for both ships)

    4441. Re: Official Character Relationship Discussion 3 | 11/24/2007 2:43am

IF they did Zutara it would be near the very end of the show-with Katara and Zuko getting closer through the episodes then them getting together. One possible cause being perhaps with something happening that causes final push to kiss one another happening; healing scene, discovery of Ursa's grave, Zuko saving Katara, Aang or entire Gaang etc.

ONE of Possible result being Aang sees it, and flies off to face fire lord alone. Katara realises Aang is gone and the gaang leaves to go after him before it's too late; later scene Katara explaining feelings to Aang about friendship. Or Aang sees Katara get hurt and realises that his love for her doesn't need her to love him in turn, that her being close to him and in his life is most important- Chakra is released and goes into Avatar state, replacing Zuko who was fighting Ozai whilst Aang was with Katara.

Or Zutara kiss, but the two are just good friends but Aang misinterprets kiss etc and flies off. With Aang having taken off, Katara realises she cares more for Aang who she has been family with than she thought.

Seeing how Yue, Jet, Suki all happened quickly in one or 2 episodes, having 6 episodes b4 the finale (which is 4 episodes apparently) give plenty of time for is to develop, IF it does. I think the close friendship is more likely, though I would of course love a relationship

The other thing is in my point with that Aang still loves Katara, but its unconditional love that isnt necessarily connected to her, bound to her (having to have her love him back romanticly, be his gf etc), so thus letting go of earthly attachments; his love being greater than it

    4446. Re: Official Character Relationship Discussion 3 | 11/24/2007 3:37am

    Ahh, I swear my vocab has died in last week this is prob going to be lousy but;

Aang would still love her as much as he does now, but without limitations to that love, because its his love for her, not his love of possessing her (her being HIS gf, friend, family etc), but for who she is. It doesn't require it to be reciprocated, its not bound to her feelings of him (which I'm not saying are negative), its not attached to her, its part of himself, part of his nature as the Avatar to care and protect the planet, his feelings for his nation personified in her.

Then why 2 seconds later does Aang say: Why would I choose cosmic energy OVER Katara?

Also, Zutara would be considered *ahem*, because Katara would NEVER LOVE Zuko.

Well, now that we're on the topic of the Avatar State and how it relates to Kataang, here's what I think. I think that for Aang to truly master the Avatar state he must first obviously deal with the spirit energy. He said to Toph in TDOBS 1 that his cosmic energy was screwed up. So, he'll probably have to make a trip into the spirit world to fix that. Maybe talk to some previous Avatar's, orand definately will see Koh (Mike and Bryan mentined we might see Koh again). After that, he'll have to meditate for a very long time, and figure out what exactly it means to 'let go' of Katara. The Guru mentioned that to master the Avatar state, Aang needed to 'get rid of emotional gunk'. Aang's emotional gunk is not the fact that he loves Katara, but that he feels conflicted about his love. He's unsure. Even after he has kissed Katara, they still haven't cleared up their relationship. Is it a friendship, a romance, or somewhere inbetween? Will Sokka approve of Aang dating his sister? Does Katara actually feel the same way about him? All of these questions are circling inside his brain. And, other Avatar's have had as close to 'true love' as you can get. The one Avatar from the Water Tribes had his fiancee's face stolen by Koh, and he has wandered lookinf for her ever since. If that's not true love, then what is? They had no problems, because they were secure in their relationships, and they knew that they had to balance their lives and their duties.

Do you people just enjoy seeing me type the same stuff over and over again?

If Aang can go into the AS and still have Katara, every problem they faced since CoD was completely meaningless since Aang could have just glowed it up and PWNED everyone and everything. What do you expect to happen? Aang goes AS, finds that he can still have Katara, goes back to the guru and says, "Hey, it turns out I can have the AS and love Katara. Didn't you say I couldn't?" to which the guru replies, "Actually, no. You missinterepretted what I said. All you had to do was give her up for those moments that you were in the AS. I probably should have clarified that, since the fate of the world was hanging in the balance, but I guess it slipped my mind. Oh well, I guess Ba Sing Se falling and your DoBS invasion failing was all for nothing. Have some onion and banana juice." ?

    As for the other avatars:

    1. Kuruk met his fiance long after he became a full avatar.

    2. Roku didn't talk to Ta Min for over 12 years while he was becoming a full avatar. Before that, he barely, if ever, talked to her. Remember this quote: "Hey, it's that girl that didn't even know you existed." There's no way that she was his attachment.
