I was seriously craving avatar tonight (it's night here), and I decided to watch some old eps. After watching a couple, I realised why the ending seemed kind of disjointed as far as relationships were concerned. There weren't enough moments where Katara showed her attraction to Aang! The best moment I saw was in "The Headband", where it was HER who was jealous for once! They should've introduced a couple more scenarios near the end of the series to help balance it out more (there was so much room for that sort of thing when all the kids were at the air temple togehter). ah well...KATAANG RULES!

Nah it's going to fall apart the second Aang reaches puberty

Well, there were also a definite moment in "The Earth King", and whatever the Zutarians say, she was definitely showing some feeling during DoBS, plus a whole bunch of other moments that I could rattle on about forever, but won't.

The thing is that the writers couldn't have too many moments of Katara blatantly and openly liking Aang if they wanted to make the kiss at the end such a special moment. Kataang had to be kept somewhat ambiguous: Aang's feelings were obvious, so Katara's had to be somewhat obscure. That said, I think that her emotions definitely shine through in episodes like:

    - The Avatar State

    - The Cave of Two Lovers

    - The Desert

    - The Serpent's Pass

    - The Earth King

    - The Awakening

    - The Headband

    - DoBS, part 1

    - The Emerald Island Players (for all her talk of it "not being the right time", it is important to note that she never denied having feelings for Aang, and if there is a "wrong time" then that impies that there is also a "right time" at some point in the future.

    And of course, our favorite:

    - Avatar Aang

It is important to note that there is a fairly real possibility that up until DoBS Katara actually had no idea that Aang had any feelings for her at all. After "The Cave of Two Lovers" she was under the impression that Aang considered kissing her to be only a few steps up from death on his preferences list, and his untimely coldness to her in episodes like "The Desert" and "The Serpent's Pass" probably didn't help things. Indeed, at times during Season 2 Katara seems far more interested in Aang than Aang is in her. If we accept that Katara honestly had no concept of Aang's love for her up until DoBS, a lot of her actions begin to make a lot more sense. After DoBS of course, it was "not the right time", and you can't really blame her for thinking that - the gaang were in fairly desperate straits, and while Sokka might have been willing to take some time off with Suki, it has been established for a while now that Katara is simply not that kind of person.

After Ozai was defeated and Zuko crowned, or course, there was nothing standing in the way of some romancing. The ambiguity was soon abandoned.

I think the fact that Katara didn't show any attraction to Aang not only gave the series a bit more mystery but also did something else. I don't think Katara realized her feelings for Aang until the end of the series. Aang had so much time to figure out why he was feeling that way, but I don't think Katara stopped and really thought about it. So, when EIP came on, I do honestly think she was confused. She hadn't recognized her feelings for Aang yet. In the finale she finally discovered how much she loved Aang and BAM Kataang was born.

Or, she had realized her feelings but didn't feel that it was right to start such a serious relationship in the middle of the war. I think that Katara realized that she needed to be focoused on the task at hand, as did Aang.

    And....

WHOOT! Zuko could be played by a Southerner in the ATLA movie!!!!!! HOT accent!!!! ZOMG! (XD isn't it obvious that I love accents?)

Katara never showed any form of recognition to the whole Kataang thing except for the third season. And southern accents are gross

Oh, say its not so!!! I think that most accent are hot with the exception of...

    1. East Coast

    2. Chicago (DA BEARS!)

    3. really heavy heavy cockney

But, English and Southern accents are very sexy. Mind you, not a Texas western Southern, but a more refined true Southern accent, like Virginia. (Which is where our possible Zuko is from.)

Ah, New York is not bad at all. But, new Jersy is really bad. XD I am just thankful that I avoided picking up the heavy Southside Chicago accent that my fathers family has...

"So, lemme tell you somethin'. Da Bears suck dis season."

However, I have a slight Jersey accent. (My moms BFF and my adoptive aunt's fault.)

LOLZ Yes, sadly that it true. Its so random, I'm this chick from the Midwest who has (at times!) a Jersey accent with a slight southern twang... (don't even no how that got there, I went on a roadtrip thrugh the South when I was little but stil...)

    And yes, I say sh-auw, wau-lking, tauw-king, along with y'all and doin'.

Sorry sorry for the brief and random leaving a few hours back, I had to go get a physical before school starts again. But, good news, I got my ears pierced. Yay yay yay! (Wow I was really late on jumping on that boat.)

Sometimes I cannot resist but to desend into the madness myself... I admit it, an occasion "Dere" (There in proper english) will slip its way in. But, I promptly correct myself and promise that I will NOT develop a Chicago accent. I've been here for 14 years, and if I haven't picked one up now, then I never will.
