I think the truth of the matter here is that both of the fighting styles are too similar.?? The key to Waterbending is using your a??opponents strength against??them while the key to earth bending??is power and defense.????Both styles are??more defensive and reactionary than agressive.?? Honestly if they were in a place with water and??earth i think katara might just win.?? If it was a place with??very little water, aside from a desert because we all know how amazing toph is there, toph would probably win.?? I think the key thing here is that Toph couldnt sense the water as it would be moving through the air.?? Oh and katara is a master water bender, watch the seige of the north, Master Pokku??says she is.?? Also if katara can use the water puppet i think Toph would be doomed.?? (see the avatar site on Nick for info on this)????

Well not paticularly a master people take things to literal master could mean a "teacher" or a person who know all the parts of a sunject Katrara is not really a master anyway she still hs to learn other styles aside from northern.

Katara, just because if the Southern chick ever wanted to she would control Toph by manipulating the water in the blind girl's body.

That's kind of harsh I doubt Katara would pull off a Kinto (Kinto is from the TCG) waterbenders can bend fluids in ones stomatch but that is pretty cold and I don't think many people use that.

Toph. If we put Ty Lee in here, she probably would win tho. (she can take away bending)

I dont think there is more than one style persay.?? perhaps there are different teachers who have different style but since Pokku is the master bender from the northern tribe, the only one left with benders, and he said she was a master water bender, id say she's as good as she's gonna get.

I dont think Ty Lee could get close enough to take out Toph's bending abilities.?? And Katara would probably be a bit more wary now that she kows what??Ty Lee??can do.

But Ty-Lee seems more air bone cause she jumps and moves pretty swiftly like a nomad.

Ya, plus Ty Lee is to cool. jk, but really, a fight between Toph and TL, one on one, that would be close. And so cool!!!

I doubt Toph can win Ty-ee is like aang where she moves swiftly on the ground and she'll make Toph attack-less in no time.

I'm guessing TL would win to, but I think it would be a dang good fight. Even though TL can move like Aang, she's still no airbender and has to touch the ground at some point, and when she does, if Toph is quick enough, it would be hard for TL. Plus if /Toph knew of her disabling skills, then Toph could surround herself in a rock suit thing like she did in Bitter Work, and that would protect her bending pressure points.

good point. Anyways I think toph would win, she would just encase Katara in rock like the General in The Avatar state did.

Either one. I don't know if Toph is that powerful, but she could do what Kyoshi did and split the land, sucking away all the water. And if it's mud, i'm fairly certain Toph would be able to control it better than Katara. Like in "The Avatar State." That guy absorbed Katara's attack into the ground.
