    Toph would win, no if ands or butts. She's far more powerful and has years of experience than katara.

    Actually there are ifs ands and buts. Nearly every avatar character has a chance of losing to another if the conditions are right. But an earthbender against an earthbender seems to be a bit of a standoff when the conditions are for the waterbender. I don't think any earthbender would be dumb enough to engage in a fight in the middle of the ocean, so that scenario isn't very possible to use. Unless the earthbender is kidnapped and taken there to fight or something. Toph is an earthbender but she has that see-through-earthbending advantage. So even underground, Toph would be able to tell how things are on the topside. And whoever is on the topside, wouldn't know how things are below them.

    It depends were they at if you remember Toph cant see on ice, katara can knock her in to the water if they are near the water but if they are in the middle of nowere toph will kick her butt remember the crazy general taht tryed to brin aang in to the avatar state? what he did to her water?? she could not do anything agenst an earthbender so to beat one there must be lots of water

    Dude. This "on even ground" thing, like next to a river or ocean? Katara. Hop in the water, float on a piece of ice, and attack the blind helpless girl.

    And Toph's my favorite character.

    Actually, Katara and Toph might have a pretty neck to neck fight.

    No doubt that Toph's bending is outta this world,

    but Katara is pretty skilled herself.

    i think if we ever saw them fight, it'd be quite interesting.

    I don't even think i could say who would win.

    Since Toph beat Katara let's let her fight Bruce Lee. My money is on Bruce since he moves so fast Toph wouldn't be able to pick up a vibration.

    I think it would be Katara. One: toph can't block katara's aterbending moves because she wouldn't be aboe to see them in the air like she could if the water was on the ground

    Two: We learned in one of the last episodes on season 2 that TOPH CAN'T SWIM. All Katara needs to do is get Toph off her feet for half a second, and not only would Toph not be able to see, but it would be all too easy for Katara to drown her.

    Three: And as a last resort, Katara could use the "Puppetmaster" attack, which literally unstoppable when used correctly.

    haha, yeah, weakness, she cant swim, throw her in the ocean and let her sink like a rock (Ho, its my Azula side)

    WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!!!! That would ruin it completely!!!! In "The Runaway" the two of them sort of have a miniature fight, but not all that much really... Anyway... I'm going with Toph. Even on a fair playing field with a river and earth, the water in the river has to sit on SOMETHING, which just happens to be more earth. Even if it wasn't earth, Toph would probably 'melt' the water into the ground, as seen in the first chapter of the second series -The Avatar state- when Katara shot water at General Fong, he 'melted' it into the ground.

    Toph would win, because right when they start fighting she can immediately sink Katara into the ground. Katara can bloodblend, but she can only do that during the full moon.
