Katara hasn't trained for 14 years, she can't have trained when she was in diapers. All the moves, or just about all of them, that she knew were: push-and-pull-the-water, streaming the water, making a gaint wave, and the water whip. Katara had two weeks of training at the North Pole, talent, determintation, and stuff, but her skill is outrageously unrealistic. Its possible to be skilled, but she seems to good to be real or fair. She outbested all the other students, that isn't fair or possible. Well, it can be, but all of those boys who have trained for years and she beat all of them without breaking a sweat or becoming tired, yeah right. And Katara was dubbed a Waterbending Master after only two weeks of official training, **** no. There is no flipping way that is possible.
But she has trained for years, too! I admit readily, not 14 years, but years nonetheless. The studio ADMITTED that Katara was unusually good as Pakku said "You have advanced more quickly than any student I have ever trained." In my eyes, as long as the studio admits that something was unlikely, but still happened, then it is fine by me. Maybe not fine by you, but for me, I say it's realistically unrealistic, if you will. Yes it is unrealistic, but it is so in a way that is presented correctly, as something unrealistic would really happen. Additionally, she was not dubbed a master. Pakku told Aang to call her Master Katara as in Teacher Katara, not Best-Waterbender-On-Earth Katara.
She almost beat master paku with no training that is like me picking up a basketball training for 5 years, barely being able to shot the basketball two weeks earlier going to admure stoudimire and beating him at basketball, katara was over hyped to make her seem useful in reality she wouldn't, when the previous avatar had died he looked 65-70 years old. He was dead when aang was told he was avatar i presume. he dies at the same age their is 20-30 years before katara is born, she wouldn't have been avatar ever
i dont think paku was really doing his best i think he was going easy on her cuz when he fought later on against the fire benders he did way better, and i dont think she almost beat him eaither the only time she came close to hiting him was once, she just lasted awhile is all. as for her learning so fast i just think she is a fast learner and she has alot of determination. but i also just think her and sokka are both just extreamly fast learners, cuz sokka learned how to fight like the kyoshi warriors in like just a day.
dats probably true cause pakku didnt want to hurt katara with all those ppl watching but he wanted to hurt the fire nation. and if sokka can learn something in one day, then katara can definitely do it.

You're kidding right Katara was unable to even land a single blow to Pakku and she lost so easily yeah she put up a good fight but nothing more than that.

Well, at least there's someone BETTER at bending than her, and that someone happens to ALSO be younger, AND more skilled in the art of bending, even if they're not the same element.

Pakku beat Katara because, well, he's better.Yet he went easy on her, so you can tell how powerful he is.
Katara at first beat Zuko because she had the lunar advantage against him, but with one blast, Zuko beat her when the sun rose.
Toph and Katara have yet to fight. But unless Katara is standing in a body of water, Toph will beat her. Toph has more experience and is just more powerful.

Yeah, when you made "right" into a sentence, it gave the funny away. Good, you have humor!

About Katara's quick mastery of waterbending:

Now, people don't really know exactly how long the time lapse between "the Waterbending Master" and "the Siege of the North."

However, I think an appropriate estimate would be a couple days.

In "the Waterbending Master", the pirates attempt to kill Zuko. In the end of the episode, they show zuko with some cuts on his face.

In "the siege of the north", the cuts don't seem to have healed at all, so it couldn't have been more than a couple days after "the Waterbending Master."

Katara has the will, power, and potential to be a master. Pakku didn't know went he would see them again.?? He had only one chance to make such Katara was a master even if she wasn't ready.

Actually, didn't he get those cuts from when Zhao tried to kill him?

I think it would take more than a "couple days" to heal after getting blasted of an exploding ship and then swimming in freezing water.

    YEAH.

ZHAO sent PIRATES to kill Zuko.

Therefore, the pirates tried to kill him.

I was saying, that since the cuts didn't heal at all, it couldn't have been more than several days.

At least some of the minor cuts would be gone.

The siege of the north couldn't have been a month after the waterbending master.

    Katara from "The Waterbending Master":
"Look, we're all just a little tired and cranky because we've been flying for two days straight".
I just realized that it was days, not weeks. Oh, so the guys travelled from the Northern Air Temple, located somewhere inside of the Northern Earth Kingdom mountains, to the North Pole for two days straight. Zhao's ship and fleet were undoubtedly close by and took about the same time. But since there's more ships and they go slower, its hard to say. Maybe around a week, it took Zhao and Zuko to reach the North Pole, so Katara only had between 2 days and a week to train. Now I'm more skeptical of her progress and powers than ever.

    This is the gaang's route:
