No one knows if he lives or not, but since not everyone has seen "Lake Laogai" yet (I mean, come on, it hasn't even aired on TV), you should have at least put "Spoilers" in the title. And it still would have been better for you to put this in the official thread or Lake Laogai one.

This is a big spoiler, should DEFINITELY be in the official thread and has been discussed there many times over. There is no OFFICIAL ruling, but it's well implied.

We don't know for sure; but chances are he is dead. Long Feng drove that slab of rock right into his chest, considering how worried Katara was it is likely the attack crushed his ribs and caused internal bleeding. Considering the emotions being shown by everyone involved I would say he is dying and this was just the creators way of avoiding any ratings problems.
They can't show anyone die on screen so they have to imply it somehow so that we will understand but the little ones are free to think he just walked it off.

If you go back and re-watch the part were Jet gets hit, you will see in that end seen he looks really dead. That's just my opservation though.

There is a very slim chance he'll survive. Maybe 1%. He was dying and there was little they could do. If Katara had stayed he might have fighting chance, but they all knew it was a lost cause.?? Without immediate help from a master waterbending healer, Jet is pretty much a gonner.

And, Smellerbee is a girl.
