Avatar: The Last Airbender: Is Jet gonna die?

The implication is certainly that Jet is dead. Lets look at the evidence. Katara lays hands on him, and says 'this is not good'. The obvious assertation from this statement is that his health condition is not good. Furthermore, we have Toph's statement, that 'he is lying'. A clear reference to Jets assertation to "I'll be okay', meaning that he won't be okay. Its not all that complex people.

Jet got hit with a particularly brutal shot, he stopped moving, he was left in the bowels of the Dai Li's wonderful little camp, and has several not so ambiguous statements about his health, his loverbee is weeping.

Characters can live if the creators want them to no matter how unlikely the situation is, but this is one of the least ambiguous deaths I have ever seen. It is just not spelled out like in a series with an older audience, so you read between the lines and get it.

that gives me a CRAZY idea...in The Earth King..zuko has spirtual issues...well maybe it is cause of jet getting revenge fron the fire nation in the spirtworld..and then at the end of the episode..zuko relizes that he should help stop the fire lord..so that leads him to the gAang

yeah not to be morbid and even though Jet was one of the better characters he's definately dead. Like everyone has been saying:
1. Long Feng said "Foolish boy, you've choosen your own demise." From what I got I thought that that meant that Long Feng meant to kill him and I doubt Long Feng would have somehow messed up and gave Jet a chance to live. I think he killed him dead.
2. Katara said that "this isn't good" and her and smellerbee were crying, they wouldn't have been that upset if he was gonna pull through.
3. Jet said he would be fine and Toph said he was lying. Toph could have told he was lying in too ways: one, that because he was lying she could sense a physical reaction or more morbidly two, she could tell his heart was weak and know that he would not last long.
Again, by some miracle he could live, anything can happen in an animated show but if we're being realistic, he doesn't have a chance.

I believe a character is dead when there is a tomb stone, burial ceremony, or spirit show up.
About what happened, Long Feng was boasting like any villain. Everyone was upset and crying because it's been a long while since the reality of death has touched their lives. Toph said he was lying because they all knew it was serious,??but she's no doctor.
If Jet died, wouldn't Longshot and Smellerbee just hurry out of the tunnels with his body. Why else would Longshot draw his arrow, ready to fight to protect Jet. If he was sure it was his time, he would have wanted his friends to leave him, rather than risk getting caught. But they stayed.
I think that we may see another form of the freedom fighters. I'm guessing that we haven't seen the last of the Blue Spirit, either. I think that just as Zuko get comfortable, the Blue Spirit will show up. It will be a healed and mind controlled Jet with mind controlled Longshot and Smellerbee. They might have had a waterbender with healing ability under the lake somewhere, or some kind a doctor/medic in the facility.
If Zuko has to battle a mind-controlled Jet, then it would take the Avatar, or most likely Katara, to step in and bring him back to sanity and stop Zuko from going to far.

Have to agree about Toph and Jet assertions; Toph was just stating the obvious about Jet lying. And Jet didn't want Katara to worry too much about him and wanted Aang to not hang about and get going after Feng.

And speaking of Feng, like IdealFan stated, he was boasting like most villians, about how great his power is and just assumed Jet is dead. To me, Jet look seriously wounded, but its a good way to killed off the character IF they choose too, at this point.

Here's what I think. Jet will live. Yes, Toph said he's lying, but don't forget if she thinks that, then Jet is just believing he's going to die. You can't lie unless you believe it. Does any one follow me on this?

Yes but now he changed, so instead of being the blue spirit he can b a freedom fighter that would b good, he is a master of two weapons just like Jet was. I think he should b the new leader

No one's ever gonna agree on whether Jet is alive or not. I still believe he's dead, but hey maybe he still is alive, anything can happen if the writers decide they don't want him dead. But still, I'm not waiting around forever, I'd say, give him 'till the end of the season to show up again or at least to be acknowledged as living (maybe even the start of season 3), but if nothing happens, imho, nothing will bring him back, he's dead.

*nods* Yeah, that's right. I'm convinced he died. When Book 2 comes out on DVD and the creators say 'he's not really dead' or when they say it in the show that Jet's alive, then I'll say 'Okay, I'm wrong', but until/if that happens, I'm saying he's dead.

I don't think that Jet is dead, I think that even though someone has touched on this already Jet will come back as the Blue Spirit and totally freak out Zuko, who by then could have even joined the Avatar's group because its pretty obvious that Zuko will join the Avatar in some time. But anyways I think that Jet will just come back as the Blue Spirit after he finds the mask that Zuko dropped off on the shore of the Lake Loagi or Laogi however you spell that.

If he didn't die then that would sort of make that whole scene seem sort of empty.
Let Jet die doing the right thing because if he did come back his blind hate for Zuko and Iroh would only serve to taint his character.
