Actually, that would be the most realistic way to redeem himself. Especially after
"You may have everyone else around here buying your...transformation, but you and I both know you've had trouble doing the right things in the past. So let me tell you something right now: If you take one step backward, one slip up, give me one reason to think you might hurt aang...then you won't have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I'LL make sure you destiny ends, right then and there! PERMANENTLY."

That would be the most bang-up way to go out. With style and sacrifice.

If Zuko dies, it would be the saddest day for Avatar-kind.

Well come on, she can't stay angry at Zuko forever

    Wrong.

Even if she will, which she won't, it's unhealthy for your mind to hold aggression for that long.

You should've known what I was saying.
I disagree. I don't know that she'll always be as deafeningly angry as she was at the end of WAT, but I'm pretty certain she'll always hold a grudge.

Betrayal is the hardest impression to erase.

He's right. She will probably hold grudge of sorts for the remainder of the series. This is different from a petty squabble with Toph. This is dealing with a man who, through his betrayal before, almost got Aang killed if it wasn't for Katara's healing water.

Ew. That's the nastiest thing I've seen you type. But if Katara died, he would unleash all his rage and kill the entire Fire Nation or whatever Kingdom what was responsible.

Yes it would. Not to mention (will say in Kataang Shipping thread to keep this thread from becoming a shipping thread)

Mmm...it's gonna be hard, and katara's face was down right menacing and out of character during her rant at the end of WAT, but...

I think deep down Katara has almost become the morale compass of the group, and when she sees that zuko truly is good, she will learn to accept him. You're right that she may never trust him, there would always be that little voice telling her to not trust him. That's why I can't wait for the big sacrifice or life saving scene that zuko pulls off to finally win them all over.

He will probably have to get hurt really bad doing it so Katara has to heal him, forcing her to see the injuries he sustained to save the group on a very personal level

What if he sacrified himself and they THOUGHT he died but he really didn't and they found out later that he survived?
