some people dont like nickelodeon so they dont watch the show, i dont like nick as well but this show is amazing. im 14 and ill continue to love this show. hey, the creators of this show are part of the Family Guy, Futurama, Simpsons and South Park family, got nothin to be embarrased about. this show is really complex, and 6 years dont get it. im proud of the mothers and fathers who watch this show with their kids. they should bump this show's age group to 12-40+ the lil kids who watch it prolly like it becuz of all the "ccooool! fire bammy! bending wow!!! smashing rocks Yeaaa!" yea, the show is way more than that. its a mixed advent of tragedy, art, symbolism, heroism, love, death, war, [political] relationship, friend ship, caligraphy, spiritual values??and lots more |

LOL, that's my little brother. He doesn't get all that stuff, only the fighting. He's in the target area, 10 yrs. old, but he doesn't get the show. He's into butt jokes and such, anything for a laugh. He doesn't get the deep part. I think he still thinks Zuko is evil. |

Lol, the same thing with my??8 year old lil bro, but I think he gets it that Zuko's not evil. He watches alot of shows that are too complex for his age because I'm 13 (14 in 3??days!) and we share a room, so he watches alot of the same shows as me. I give him alot of speeches about having to pay attention to the detials in such shows as this and how he has to think like someone older. It's good for his brain, I think.
And who says cartoons aren't educational?
But yeah, he is mostly in it for the fighting and bending. He doesn't like the drama, symbolism, and poetic part of the show, but he will tolerate it if he has to use it to understand why the people are fighting. Lol. He's a weird character, my brother .

THANKYOU. God, I wish I could memorize that so I can tell people off when they start ragging on me about being into animation. I plan on making it my CAREER, dangit! *shakes fist* |
Seems to me the folks at Pixar (and other animation studios) are happy enough taking their so called immaturity to the bank.

To old to watch the show is the 6 feet under age group. It's ok to watch, unless others in your peer group mock you for it then its wrong because you should always do what your peers do, because to not is ???double plus ungood??? and requires you to be sent to a re-education facility. |

Im 18 and i watch avatar regularly, its such a complex and original show its almost an insult to it to say the age range is only 6-11, or even 9-14. its a really great show worth noticing |
My eldest daughter got me hooked during season 1 when she was just 4. She and her sister??refused to come for??a walk with me because Avatar was on, so I sat down to watch the Blue Spirit with them and got hooked.??My middle daughter??(now 4 years old) has a great water bending stance and my??2 year old??can spin like Aang does with his staff in the opening credits.??I'm grateful to the creators of the show for giving us something we can all enjoy at our own level.
Avatar takes me back to when I was a kid (late 60's early '70's)??and UHF channels were showing badly dubbed Godzilla and Hong Kong kung-fu flicks on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and anime was just being introduced in the??US.

I bet I am the oldest, at 43 years old! I came to this site on a quest to find a place that I could ask questions that my 4 1/2 year old son posed. My little Fire Bender adores this program, and wants to know all the obscure stuff. We started watching the show from the beginning. Though the first commercials made Avatrar seem like trivial cartoon, so I wasn't planning to watch, out of curiosity I tuned in. My son and I were fans from the very beginning. Most of the kids on this forum would want to have me for a mom. I love the program so much, I get the DVDs, toys, shirts and other products as I can find them. I even have a t-shirt! I met one other parent electronically via this forum today. I would be curious to know how many others are an "Avatar Parent". Regards, Mutnodjmet ("Sweet Mama" in the language of ancient Egypt), |
