    Katara taught Aang the octopus form in "Cave of Two Lovers", then used it herself in the season 2 finale.

    Its kind of weird how the creator already created the idea of the lion-turtle a long time before the finale. I wonder if they had planned the entire 'lion-turtle energybending' thing....

    The pilot episode is one of my favourite foreshadows And the picture in The Library. Everything lion-turtle is awesome.

    Wow, I didn't even notice that. He also had a lion-turtle in his garden, I forgot. The Order of the White Lotus is so all knowing

    I really should see the pilot episode..

    The fact that lion turtle was foreshadowed so much earlier isn't unexpected though, cause writers normally write the form of ending they want before writing the main story.

    I know, but I don't think anyone could've possibly guessed a lion-turtle had anything to do with anything. That's what made it so great. It was right in front of us the whole time and we didn't even give it a second thought.

    Very true, I don't think there was any speculation about it at all before the finale, which is probably why so many people thought it was random.

    You usually don't start a show unless the entire plot is already at least decided upon. They can add things, but usually, the ending and most events in the show are planned completely out before the show even airs.

    Apparently, only a few things were planned out.
    1. kataang
    2. Zuko joining the group
    3. Some kind of failed invasion during an eclipse
    4. Sozin's Comet
    5. Most of the character designs (Toph was the only one who was changed).

    It's true, I thought it was random at first. The hints were so subtle. It made me swell with pride

    I'm not sure if this foreshadow or not but in episode 12 the storm when Iroh looks away when Zuko is burned by his father we se Azula smirking. Did anyone notice that.

    It's one of my favourite scenes. It's not foreshadowing as much as learning about the characters.

    We haven't really seen Azula personality before this, so in this scene we see what her personality could be same way we see what type of person Zhao is, cause if I'm not mistaken he had a look of glee on his face too. So its really a snippet view of Azula's personality than full foreshadowing I guess, but its probably bit of a grey area.
