Wasn't all of the airbenders love to Aang reborn as love between the two of them? The love of an entire people isn't infatuation.

And FFS Katara isn't Aang's mother!!! She's just older than him, and wants to have him, and besides, she isn't controlling Aang.
PS. Zutarians i think you're jelaous of Kataang, and just trying to lie, that Zutara will happen. Katara hates Zuko... How Zutara can possibly happen? omfg...

I'm in the mood to argue against all points, for Kataang and Zutara, so by all means, support what you will. First Kataang. The Cave of Two Lovers: probably one of the strongest episodes concerning shipping. Truly it as the story behind the cave that caught my attention more than what actually happened between Katara and Aang inside the cave. The story was of two people from warring or feuding villages that fell in love. That idea does not really support Kataang, and some might say it actually suggests Zutara. Think what you will. As for what happened between Aang and Katara, when the idea of kissing first was brought up by Katara, you can tell that they are both viewing the situation differently. Katara seemed to think of the idea from a pragmatic standpoint, that perhaps something would happen by it that would help them leave the cave. Aang obviously was thinking on different lines.
The age of the characters is also something to be considered, what kind of relationship would such young individuals really want at that age? Friends. Family. Maybe boyfriend and girlfriend, butIdon't think we are going to see anything along the lines of Sokka/Suki or Zuko's level.And also the fact that Katara seems to have no real hesitance in considering other boys for such a relationship (Jet) is a point to consider. It suggests that she did not really view Aang as someone she could have such a relationship with. I think the idea has only been recently placed in her head after Aang kissed her in DOBS, but I'm betting all it did was confuse her, and I doubt she's ready to really think on the idea, not until after they've at least come up with another plan. If we do see any strong support for Kataang on her side, I'm betting it is not going to be until nearly the end of the show.
Now Zutara. I'll admit to being a supporter simply because I like the idea of "once enemy turned love interest", but perhaps that is a bit much to ask for in a early/mid-teen's show. Let's be honest here: Zutara was derrived completely from fandom and is supportedbased totally on speculation around points and events that may really hint at nothing. That said, I could be totally wrong about the hints and their... questionable relationship. It cannot be denied that, among all the characters, it is Zuko and Katara that seem to have the most interaction in the past. That's probably a mute point though as nothing in those moments really suggested they desired anything from eachother. Their past interactions have always seemed to end in combat, making it apparent that Zuko never really saw her as anything but an obstacle or a means to capturing the Avatar, and Katara never saw him as anything but an enemy. As for where they are now, I imagine Katara is angry at him for failing to live up to the trust that had built between them in the crystal cave, and is not willing to give any leniancy towards him in this last chance to prove himself. I really can't guess how she will view him by the end of the series, but as a love interest is improbable. Not impossible though.
On final note, I honestly do not expect us to see any real resolution in their relationships until the end of the series. If there was, I think I, and alot of other vieers, might lose interest in the show, as a part of the reason I feel compelled to watch it is in the hope of seeing what I want to see.

Zutarians are mostly hormoncrazy on heat teenage girls. Most of them identify themself with "perfect teenage girl" in the Avatar-show. Therefore they think that best relationship for Katara (and themselfes) must be some "complex" teenage psycho-loser, who belive by them is "the best man" in the show.
