I really like the humor in this show. Ok, the poetry thing was a little... I don't know the word for it, but it didn't seem like normal Avatar humor. But it was still funny. Same with the "Made in the Earth Kingdom" thing, which always sort of bugged me. But other then that, I love when they have funny things. Those are usually the best parts!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the humor in the avatar. It just needs to be in there or else I wouldn't watch it. I mean even 'darker' series had enough humor (Dragonball Z, Naruto, Inu Yasha)

Well, the show was designed so that it could be watched by children as early as seven years old.?? While it is certainly more intelligent and well-written than many of the cartoons I've seen today, it's still a family show, designed so that the children as well as the adults can watch and enjoy it.

I do have to agree though that in some cases the humor and comic relief tends to spoil the moment, but I think that as of Book 2: Earth, the storylines have had significantly less of it in the crucial scenes.

This show, by the way, is by far the best animated series I have ever had the fortune to watch!

Humor is a lot better in a serious scene than in a unserious one. See: The Simpsons, Scrubs, Full Metal Alchemist.

And this show's humor is a ton better than FullMetal and most japanese animes I've watched.

I like the homour in Avatar but sometimes they do go overboard, like in the recent episode "The Earth King" where it started of great and then got all stupid. But Sokka's always funny

I seriously think at times the creators are going overboard with the humor in the show. Avatar is a dark show, not Spongebob! Examples of this unnessacary humor would be the "Made in Earth Kingdom" joke in Zuko Alone, the idiotic Earth generals we keep seeing, Sokka getting thrown out of the Poetry place, most of the Avatar Day episode, etc.

No offense, but avatar is NOT a dark show. wat do u expect? a voldemort harry scene? its funny, and tats wat half the ppl like about it. i understand some of the ''earth king'' episode stuff was a little corny, and the earth generals are pissing. and...avatar day was corny. lol. but tat does NOT soil the show. evry show has its problems, and i dont think it deserves to be mentioned, because its really is not a big deal. i think wat they've accomplished is enough. and by the way, the sokka and the poetry conflict was just about the funniest thing in the world. i am certainly NOT the only one who thinks so.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? It was the other way around!! It started out a little silly then got more serious after Long Feng was arrested. Did Azula impersonating Suki seem "stupid" to you?

I hate it when they ruin fight scenes with stupid catch phrases. No one would actually be apologizing to someone they're fighting. They wouldn't even be fighting them, simply defending themselves. "Serilously, we're on your guys' side!" Thanks, Sokka and Katara, you ruined the greatest fight yet. That was great.

I know it was dumb but you my friend exagerate how can saying sorry 2 in the whole fight ruin it if that's how much annoys you then maybe it's time to find other shows. I personally thought it was okay to do that it didn't make the scene unserious or anything it wasn't really humor just some words.
