Will Spongebob Outlast Rugrats?

Do you think that Spongebob will last more seasons than Rugrats?

Ever since they added Kimi to the show, Rugrats really went stale. And with a new generation already started, the show will be forgotten completely amongst kids. Especially now that Nick has stopped airing reruns of the show.

The same thing could easily happen to SpongeBob is Nick keeps renewing new episodes. It's already happening. I think we can all agree that the show is not at all the same as what it used to be. Soon, it's going to have more low-quality episodes than golden episodes (seasons 1-2-3).

BTW, I thought I'd have to mention this. I was watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien last night and he was doing this segment with stamps. One of the gag stamp sets was about nightmares that George Bush has and the first one was "SpongeBob being cancelled". That was kinda random, but still funny.

I liked the show even with Kimi. I was glad that Chuckie finally had someone he could call a mom and a sister since it was just his dad and him.

Lets not yet make the assumption that there will end up being more low-quality episodes than high-quality ones. For all we know, eventually they could end up getting new writers with creativity and originality. The show could take another turn, hopefully for the better.

I do agree that the show is not what it once was. Not only are the current episode inferior, but the show just feels totally different. Try watching Bubblestand, and then Sun Bleached, and it almost feels like a different show. But at least the current episodes are alright.

I'd love that to happen, as long as they get some new writers with some damnit good ideas! SpongeBob is one of those shows that you could get thousands of episode ideas for, if they brought in new writers. But the Season 4-6 writers sometimes ran out of ideas (The Splinter), but also had a very original storyline (WhoBob WhatPants?).

So, I would say yes, if they got new writers with proper brains.

For the series to last over fourteen years would mean it would probably have around ten seasons. Does anyone think that will happen? I don't mean "do you want it to happen". This is whether or not you think it will happen.

Something about it that I'd find to be strange is when you look back and remember that there were only going to be three seasons. The movie would then end the show with a bang. For it to last ten seasons, I'd find it strange to see that the movie only came about thirty percent of the way into the series' air time.

I can imagine it, whether the episodes are crap or pure gold.

The last set of episodes got a score from 8 to 9. I'm sick of people saying that SpongeBob is still going downhill, because it never started to go downhill for me.

If Rugrats had 14 seasons then we're only halfway there with SB. I'd say it's got several seasons left in it, but not enough to make it 14.

I just found out that Rugrats had just 12 seasons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rugrats_episodes and 14 years of running. I'm not sure if SpongeBob will have 6 more seasons, but 4 more years seems like a possibility, just if the eppies keep improving, other than I myself doubt it'll outlast Rugrats =\

Well SB has like 20 episodes each season. Didn't Rugrats have less than that in each season?

You're right. When Spongebob has ended, sure they can show reruns, but practicly everyone has seen every SBSP epi plus every season is on DVD, so what would be the point of watching it on the tele if there are no new epis and you can just watch it on DVD? I don't think it will be one past season 7. In fact, on wikipedia, 7 will be the last. Here's some rumored epis:

    Squid X Sandy :0
    Spongebob getting licence
    crossover w/ FOP
    TV movie: Bikini Bottom Adventure

what show will Nick are in SBSP place?

FOP? It probably only has 1-2 seasons left in it.

    Making Fiends: Don't think so

Barnyard: I hope not. Movie awesome, series is a disgrase to the movie.

iCarly- It's good, but it's one of those shows where it's only funny to watch on a friday night (for me anyway)

Naked Bros.- It's on it's last leg

    New series-Peiguins!- ???

H20- BORING (no effence, it's just boring to me)

    Mighty B!- Meh...

and Tak- Never played the game, never watched the show.

So what are they going to air 69 times a week after they cancel SBSP?(That's right, in ONE WEEK it's aired 69 times)

You know those rumors are false, right? They were even taken off of Wikipedia, probably because some fan just stuck them up.

According to Wikipedia, season seven will have twenty six episodes. But once again, I can't call it official, though it's more believable than those previous rumors.

I think that SpongeBob SquarePants will run for over seven seasons. Think about it, how many more television shows can you think of that are as popular? The Simpsons? That's the only show I can think of that is possibly more popular.

I'll say that there will probably be in between eight or ten seasons. As for Rugrats, I think that SpongeBob SquarePants might surpass it.

i personally think that the simpsons was gold for quite a while, but it is definitely not that great anymore. the simpsons movie was the last good thing to come from the simpsons. everything afterwards is going downhill fast. i think maybe family guy might be as popular, but i still think that spongebob is the golden cartoon out right now in popularity

Well since I've not seen a single episode after the movie, I can't judge Simpsons, but I hate Family Guy. I don't know what my friend sees in it. But then he thinks the same about me liking SpongeBob..

oh trust me pokesponge. the episodes of the simpsons have been atrocious in my opinion since the simpsons movie. i love family guy but i understand why some people hate it. as for spongebob, i hope it makes it past the rugrats. the only thing stopping spongebob is if nick creates the next big cartoon (the madagascar penguins perhaps?).

Well I think Penguins! could be the next big Nick thing if they can make a show where the penguins are as funny as they were in the movie. Also, I'm a HUGE Madagascar fan, and I was disappointed to see they made a second movie, however hopefully Penguins! will be really good, and if SpongeBob stops, it'll become the next best thing.

The Simpsons: is an amazing show, really. It never ceases to entertain me when I watch it. The thing is, I don't watch it a whole lot, so I can't really call myself a fan. The Simpsons Movie was really good, too. I have heard though, that the new episodes are really bad. Bad as in, worse than the publics opinion of season four of SpongeBob SquarePants.

The Family Guy: is one of my least favorite cartoons. It strikes me as a dumb version of The Simpsons. Rather than using clever intelligent jokes, this series uses toilet humor. It also has sexual jokes, which are only funny to a point where they begin to get old and disturbing. I will say that the people in charge are musically talented.

SpongeBob SquarePants: is my personal favorite of the three. It doesn't always use use jokes smacked in your face, or mature jokes that kids would find disturbing. This show has censors, which are actually a good thing usually because it shows how the creators can think (Compare the kinds version of Ren and Stimpy to the adults version, and you will see why censors make things more fun). It does use some adult humor, but it't not disturbing for kids, because they wouldn't get it. Above all, this show has just become really important to me.
