Well, you must admit, he has done some things that do seem very very gay

True, he has, but this is a kids show, so I doubt they would make the Main Character Gay :S
He can act gay and he does, but he'll never do truly gay acts, that's for sure...

    .......

...OK, i can see them having him kiss Squidward or Patrick sometime, he already gave mouth-to-mouth to The Bully of-screen once.
Um... Ew.... lol. I can't see him kissing Patrick or Squidward at all...Actually, I can't really see him kissing anyone (on the lips).
Well.... you know, he's not that far away from doing it. At least not with what the writers have already made him do...
Not far from doing that? Ok your seriously grossing me out right now lol.
actually, back in the 90's, they used to do that for comidic effect.

Yeah, but, that means your statement does not hold any value in the discussions since it proves nothing for any side of the discussion, therefor, it was useles...

@Chewster: I think i got some, can't remember clearly, but, for the old reference: Bugs Bunny in his ever so clever plans to confuse the hunter guy and escape his shotgun, had dressed as a woman to have him fall in love, to the point of kissing him, various different times.

in animaniacs, they used to face the same villain, and they would drive him crazy and usually kiss him. but on the cheek. also in an aosth episode( adventures of sonic the hedgehog) sonic desguised himself as the bride of robotknic.

I do not think SpongeBob's gay and even if he is, I wouldn't care anyway. This is a kid's show, so if the parents of children think he's gay they shouldn't overreact and automatically think that is going to give them any ideas. The children will eventually grow up to make their own decisions and have their own preferences. However, I am a strong supporter of men wanting to marry women and vice-versa. (Term is Straight.)

One can always argue that SpongeBob is straight because of all the times he has hung out with Sandy, and they even traded each other gifts of love in the episode: Valentine's Day. To Love a Patty was just weird though, him just falling in love with a krabby patty in my opinion was just a dumb plot, and the scenes showing the rotten patty were completely unecessary.

I'd rather use SpongeBob's attraction towards females with Sandy episodes, like Valentine's Day. Anyway, back to the point, if SpongeBob loves Sandy, then there's your proof he's not gay but we'll have to wait and see for the upcoming episodes that really will show strong SpongeBob and Sandy romance. I remember JellyFishJammer posting a picture in a thread buried around here somewhere showing a scene from a future episode where SpongeBob and Sandy are together in her Tree Dome, and SpongeBob's in a tuxedo while Sandy's wearing a white dress.

However, if SpongeBob is meant to be with Sandy, then that scene form 20,000 Patties Under The Sea where SpongeBob says bye to Squidward in a flirty tone was just not right and way off-base. With bizarre scenes like that and episodes like To Love a Patty, I think that proves season 5 was the worst season of SpongeBob for having episodes not following the storyline properly, having some scenes and moments not make much sense, feeble plots, and over-abuse of gross-out gags.

It's interesting how you bent the discussion in so many ways back and forth only to end up saying, Season 5 sucked. (which i still agree in anyway.)

If spongebob does end up marrying Sandy in that new episode, then, he did innocently gayish things in his life, that could have been taken as for him being gay but he was straight.
And, in the end, that's what everyone thinks, some people jokingly say he is indeed gay and truth is, he acts gay at times, and he probably will act gay in future times, but as for canon actual sexuality based point of view of spongebob, he's currently neither, if he does marry Sandy, then straight.

Also, what do you mean you're a strong supporter of straight? you don't believe in gay marriages? i myself am straight, but i'm damn confident homosexual couples exist and must have the same rights as a straight couple, since they are in no way different except for obviously they're both of one gender.

Well, I don't think we should be bogged down on whether or not SpongeBob and Sandy should be a couple. SpongeBob is simply intended to be an innocent and quirky non-human individual, and not a stereotypical homosexual. Nick's censors would never let one of their cartoons continue if there they had a feeling that the writers were intentionally putting innuendos to make the main character seem gay Sure, there's nothing wrong with being gay but it is a touchy subject and sometimes cannot be appropriate for little kids. However, parents and religious groups need to stop criticizing SpongeBob for any tiny quirk that can be associated with homosexuality, thinking that it will make their children gay Nothing can make you gay just your own hormones.

@Sponge: Ren from Ren and Stimpy did seem pretty gay many times, and i'm sure he has infact kissed some males during the show (comedic reasons.)

Also, as much as i hate it, i think certain cartoons at certain ages could help a kid grow up to be gay help, not make him, i mean, He-Man and She-Ra certainly did increase the gay population.

Um, he is NOT gay Whenever a male happens to be overly sensitive and young at heart, everyone starts the "Is he gay topic. I, for one, think that SpongeBob will give up his asexuality (is that even a word?) and go for Sandy!

I was creeped out when I saw that. I'm amazed that Squidward didn't look disgusted or take off running in the opposite direction! But I still don't think he's gay And I agree about that part in "Waiting" too..it always creeps me out.
