Here we'll talk about SpongeBob's voice and the changes it has gone through.

First of all, I'll go through all the changes. From season one to two, his voice got higher. In season three his voice is mostly unchanged, but gets higher towards the end of the season. In seasons four, five, and six his voice is much higher.

    I'll start the conversation.

What would you connect his voice in the movie to? Was it the most like his season three voice, his season four voice, or what?

His voice did get higher as the show went on.

    More like S3, I'd say.

I didn't mind it in Season 4, but he ruined Rise And Shine with his squeaky weird voice.

I'd say that his voice sounded like an in between point of his season three and four voice, like a mix of the two. That's what he sounded like in SpongeBob Meets the Strangler.

But also, in some of the newer episodes notice that once in a while, like when he's sad or weak--like in "Gift of Gum" for example, his voice is actually considerably low.

I thought the exact same thing!

On the movie it was like early season 4. But on some points it sounded season 2, like when he says "Did you hear that, Pat? She's gonna use her mermaid magic on us and turn us into men!" for example. It depends I guess =\

For some reason I love that low voice.

Me too! I wish he could have that low voice more often...and not in situations that are negative necessarily...

Well we don't particularly want high when feeling negative, and low when really positive.

    That'd be a bit weird.

"I've been through a lot in the past six days five minutes twenty seven and a half seconds."

When SpongeBob says that, he sounds a lot like how he does in Rollar Cowards towards the end of the episode. This is the quote.
"I was really scared to ride the roller coaster."

And SpongeBob sounds nothing like his early season four voice. In fact in early season four his voice was insanely high, higher than ever. Just listen to him - In Fear of a Krabby Patty - when he cheers "Team Krusty Krab".

I'd say in the movie he sounds like a merge of his season three and four voice. That's how he sounded in SpongeBob Meets the Strangler, which happens to have come out around the same time as the movie.

All these voice changes make me feel a little disappointed towards Tom. I mean, he is my favorite voice actor, but if he can't make the same voice the same way in every episode... how good of a voice actor is he?

True, and when I look at some of the other characters that he has voiced in other shows I can recall the character's voice getting higher as the series went on, and then faltering kind of like with SpongeBob...

I doubt anyone here besides tvfan95 is going to know about "Camp Lazlo" but Tom Kenny voices one of the main characters on that show...same thing.

Tom Kenny voices Slinkman and Scoutmaster Lumpus on Camp Lazlo, but I don't recall their voices getting higher in pitch, or changing, as the show went on. I don't think Heffer's voice or Dog's voice changed either. The SpongeBob voice just must be difficult to do, it is really high after all. He was the voice for the narrator in the Powerpuff Girls as well, and I think that stayed pretty consistent.

Well Patrick's voice changed from Season 2 onwards, and hasn't changed since. Same with just about all characters. SB is the only one with LOTS of changes. Also, I know he's singing, but SB's voice is so high when he sings 'K-R-A-B-B-Y-P-A-T-T-Y says I' in Fear of A Krabby Patty

Hey! Somebody here does know about Camp Lazlo! Yeah, well, I thought I noticed Scoutmaster Lumpus's voice getting higher as the series went on, whereas in earlier episodes it was deeeper and lower.

I don't think he changed Cupid's voice in FOP. But Cupid started with a high voice, so he can't go any higher.

Like I said earlier, SpongeBob's voice is insanely high in Fear of a Krabby Patty. Listen to him cheer Team Krusty Krab.

Patrick's voice HAS changed ever since season four began. In seasons one, two, and three he sounded more natural. Now he sounds mindless, and often speaks in an uptight voice.

Squidward's voice have changed ever since the beginning, too. In season one it was extremely nasally. In seasons two, three, and the movie it got slightly less nasally. Ever since season four it has gotten much less nasally.

Mr. Krabs and Plankton sound the same as always, as well as Sandy.

I don't know what it is, but Pearl seems to sound different to me.

SpongeBob's voice did go low one time when he was 'normal' in the episode Not Normal.

It's because he was trying to be "normal".
