I love The Simpsons, so this is hard for me, but new Simpsons sucks, so Spongebob wins in that sense

This is the SpongeBob boards, so of course SpongeBob! The Simpsons have an amazing trajectory, but it's time for it to "retire". SpongeBob rocks my socks

Hey, Spongebob_Sp! Long time no see, I thought you were going to use your other account MutantSasquatch or something. Anyway The Simpsons is going to end in 2011, but Spongebob will probably live longer that.

Spongebob. I think ever since Homer replaced Bart as the most influential character in The Simpsons it's been so adult oriented in it's humor that it's lost it's charm. It used to be a realistic satire, and now it's Family Guy with a different animation style. Bart used to be cool... and whilst i still enjoy watching the show, Bart just isn't the same chap who in 2002 inspired me to learn how to ride a skateboard. (they show classic episodes weeknights on channel ten here in Australia and have been doing so ever since i first got to watch whatever i like on tv in 2001)

Spongebob is still fresh, and whilst some talk of a downturn in quality, i think it's ressurected itself in a similar way to The Simpsons, except the characters are more likeable. The Simpsons are too Family Guyish now for my liking. So Spongebob wins for me.

The Simpsons are more like old Family Guy, so it's still pretty enjoyable to watch. But Family Guy has escalated to countless poop jokes and pop culture references. It's now an abomination that needs to be put down. Have you seen the DVD's? They're uncensored, and it's ridiculous how much they swear. It's like South Park now, but South Park is waaaay better.

In most show comparrisons everyone's like "OMeggie SpongeBob sux now" but The Simpsons has gone downhill too.

i'd agree. South park, whilst crass in it's humor, is intelligent and an all round better show than dumb Family Guy.

I'd say The Simpsons has still got life in it, and is still a good show, though obviously not as good as before 2000, but Spongebob wins imo easily.
