You actually agree with them? I find that to be a dumb excuse so parents can keep there kids from watching tv.

I said I kind of agree. I mean, I've never really seen anyone get influenced by television, but it could happen.

Do you agree that parents should ban the show if they imitate things? I think they should just ground them, and let them watch it so they keep getting grounded until they are 18

Well, that's why the shows have different ratings so kids don't see inappropriate things that are meant for adults. Kids are like sponges, they absorb everything they see, and I do agree many do imitate what they see on TV. When I was like 11 I asked to get a haircut so I could look like Buttercup from The PowerPuff Girls, I got my haircut, and looked like crazy

"Hey guys, I just watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z! They could fly and everything!"
    "Really? How?!"
"Goku was able to use a cloud, and everyone else just jumped off stuff, maybe if we did that, we could too!"
    "YEA!"
*jump, break bones, end up in hospital*

    Different scenario

"Hey guys, I just watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z! They were able to break solid walls just by punching them!" And I think you know where that leads.

See where I'm going with this? It's exactly like that whole Grand Theft Auto crap a few years ago, kids that don't know any better CAN and most likely WILL imitate anything they see that fits their definition of "cool" Grounding them won't do anything, since they'll just do something they learned from whatever they where watching/playing in their room and get hurt all over again. Sure, banning something is harsh, but if it gets the point across, then go for it. And btw, if you're grounded, you aren't going to be watching any TV, that's for sure. Grounding is just a nicer term for banning.

Out of the top of my head, i remember when i was around 10, a big pokemon fan, i cut my eyelashes cuz i noticed that only girls seemed to have it in pokemon, and other cartoons, my mom got so mad at me when she found out

Yup, parents should stop kids from watching certain stuff, other stuff should be watched by kids while their parents watch too, so they can explain why it would be wrong and stupid to do in real life. Same with videogames, and books. If parents were there, not just thinking My son/daughter is reading i must be a great parent, Twilight, a book about an abusive relationship with man basically beating up some emo girl, wouldnt be so popular. And, yeah, videogames are pretty much in same category as tv, only that parents should take a time to tell kids why videogames are only videogames and we dont all live like in the videogames.

But, then again that is just my point of view, i know i did a few stupid stuff i saw on tv and in videogames when i was a kid.

Parents shouldn`t ban the show. They should just keep grounding them till their 18. They should not ban the show. They should just say "You shouldn`t do that" or when they are watching tv with them they should give their kid a lecture that if they do that in real life, they could get seriously hurt. Which is why kids don`t often imitate things they see on tv. Do you think I got a point?

Talking won't do jack, that's why there's a little thing called "the lie" which, if you haven't noticed, literally EVERYONE does. Just nod in agreement with everything they say, and do what they told you not to. And I hate re-stating myself... but GROUNDING IS BANNING, how are you not seeing that? If you get grounded, you AREN'T watching TV, you AREN'T on the phone, you AREN'T on the Internet, you AREN'T with your friends... See what I'm saying there?

Ok... You do that... But I'm saying is that you don't want to ban something, if you ground someone, it's the same thing as banning... So I'm not really sure where you're coming from with the "banning is bad but grounding is good" thing...

Take it easy. Kids are just kids. They don`t know any better. And when they are ungrounded, they get their privileges back.

I kind of agree with you, Nathan. Parents need to take responsibility is what their children see and educate them about the difference between fantasy and reality. But they should'nt be so harsh as to constantly giving them unnecessary punishments unless they do something really bad. Plus, there is the V-Chip.

I never imitated anything I ever saw on tv. I always had common sense. I was always smart enough to not imitate things I see on tv.

My mom imitates things (sort of). She was a fan of "ren and stimpy", and she bought a cat from the pet shop, and named it "stimpy". It was a girl cat! Trust me, my mom is a huge "ren and stimpy" fan.
