I mean seriously maybe I just don't watch that many new episodes, but every single episode past like season 4 has Spongebob do nothing, but crying. I'm a teenager, but my God what the hell is this show supposed to teach kids? That if you don't get your way just start crying and eventually you will.

Examples:

The episode where his Spatula is stolen

When Gary goes missing

When he gets his picture taken

The episode with the card

Any many others...

And seriously I've seen episodes where the episode starts off with just him crying... I dunno maybe the writers are running out of ideas that they're brought to tears so they make Spongebob cry. They really ought to quit making new episodes and just air everything before season 5

That's not necessarily typical with the newer seasons. He cried a lot in the older episodes too (i.e. Karate Choppers, Grandma's Kisses, etc.) with creative styles. However, I would agree that nowadays he's just being a crybaby. I don't like how they're now making his character be the idiot, when that's Patrick's job.

SpongeBob only cries when he's upset. You would too if you lost your most prized posession or if you lost your pet. Don't bash, man.

He's just sensitive whenever something emotionally hurts him. Is he not allowed to feel sadness whenever his pet runs away, loses the thing he loves most, or something he tries hard on goes horribly wrong?
Don't bash him for having a heart.

I don't think this has been as common in the last few new episodes, but it has been prominent throughout the series. Some of those times, I think he has a very good reason to cry, but at other times he acts like he's two. SpongeBob is VERY sensitive so I can see him crying sometimes, but I do agree that it gets taken way over the top at times (like in "All That Glitters", for example.)

He seems to be crying less if you ask me, in seasons 1-3 i remember him crying a lot. Now, usually his crying doesn't go on and on as long, like it used to.

I agree with NegiSponge! I mean, wouldn't you cry too if your favorite pet in the whole wide world runs away? If you lose your best friend cause he thinks he's not compatable to you anymore? I don't blame him for crying; that's normal behavior for a kid. Also, it does not teach kids bad stuff, it teaches them good stuff like "All that glitters is not gold" and too take better care of your pets or they'll feel negleted and run away.

I agree mostly with GamingGod.

Though, some situations are ok for someone to cry, but geez, way too much drama out of him, if someone looses a pet, said person would get sad and look for him, not cry and cry and cry while kinda doing it, Spongebob isn't 8 :/

He may not be 8, but he's still very sensitive plus, Gary means the world to him, so I'm not surprised he would cry.

&

He cried way more in the episode "Dumped" where he thought Gary didn't love him anymore, and lived with Patrick.

Ok, Gary missing is acceptable, still, besides that time he does cry very much on occassions that don't deserve it.

Well, Dumped was pretty much a parody (stealth parody?) of a soap, which i btw, enjoyed very much XD

Yes, but mostly his excessive crying is supposed to be a gag, like in "Grandma's Kisses" or "Karate Choppers" and "All That Glitters"

I agree about the soap opera thing (Especially the sad/depressing music in it), i guess that's kinda why it's called "Dumped"

Yes, but my point on it being a gag was that it was a soap parody, where crying is so overdone, on other times it's really unnecesary, Grandma's Kisses, welll, it was a creative way of crying so it was forgiven, plus his grandmother pretty much just replaced him with patric.. All That Glitters... didn't like how he cried, specially since it was just a spatula...

The music was awesome there, totally deserving for an actual soap XD

I didn't see it as a soap. It just has a tearjerking plot.

Naughty Nautical Neighbors was a soap. "My best friend, and my ex-best friend and... RUBBER BATH TOYS!"

Spongebob may cry a lot, but he has reasons to cry. When he lost gary (even though I am not that fond of that episode) was one of his reasons. When my cat died, I cried my eyes out. Everybody cries sometime. People aren`t normal if they don`t cry every once in a while. Even my dad cries sometimes. So, if spongebob wants to cry, he can cry all he wants to. It doesnt bother me.

Didn't we state a couple of posts ago that crying on some of those cituations was ok, but most were just for random comedy that sometimes was good and others not?

Gary leaving = OK
Spatula Breaking = Useless Cry

A true man cries, when something horrible happens, not when a random cooking item you work with breaks, you can be sad at most for some minutes, not cry your way 'till buying another one, the same goes for 60% of all the other times he has cried.
