Do We Love Season 7 as Much as We Think?

Do YOU Think Season 7 is ACTUALLY better than Season 1?

First before I say anything, I need to have some sort of disclaimer:

You guys know me. I am a HUGE fan of SpongeBob, both the pre-movie and post-movie episodes. I hate pretty much no episode. I by no means hate any season either.

Buuut, with Season 7, I'm beginning to have a certain annoyance. Not with the season, but with the way people look at it.

Some people like it better than Season One. Some like it better than Season Two. Some better than Season Three. Why is that? I don't think it's better than any of the three aforementioned seasons, not by one bit. While I do think it is the best post-movie season, it's not better than any of the pre-movie seasons. Why do people like it a lot? I have a theory. They see this last gleam of hope. They see SpongeBob coming back to its original glory, taking back its throne as one of the best shows on television. So, they label Season 7 one of the best seasons. But truthfully, it isn't. Sure, some of the episodes are downright hilarious, but we can't ignore the bad ones. We can't ignore the fact that this season still has some characters acting out of character, and that the show is still jumping that shark. Barely, but it still is. So, I still enjoy Season One WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than Season 7. It has the characters perfectly in character, and the plots were amazing, and original, and all that. Season 7 is great and everything, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.

To name two off the top of my head:

    1. More Sandy episodes!
    2. Less Krusty Krab vs. Chum Bucket episodes!

Come on, most of you must agree with that. So, what do you think?

I completely agree. As much as I love season 7, I just love the first 3 seasons a lot more.

I agree that it isn't better than any of the pre-movie episodes. I think that the reason so many people jump to those conclusions is the sudden improvement in episode quality. It seems like Spongebob is already getting better and bam. A big series of great episodes come up. Not necessarily better than the earlier episodes, but the level of improvement may make the episodes come across as slightly better than they actually are, even if they are great.

I think there should definitely be less Plankton episodes. I'm just plain sick of seeing him all the time. He doesn't do well for long periods of time.

... Or, we just think it is really good.

That bothers you? Just accept that people have different opinions than you.

I really like season 7, but definitely not more than season 1. I think it's going on the right track, but it's still too early to jump into conclusions and say it's the best season against season 1. Remember that only 12 episodes of season 7 have aired, and there are usually near 40 single eppies per season, so, we'll see what the future ones bring and if they'll live up to the season 7 hype.

I'd say it's around the same level as season 1, maybe slightly weaker though.

Like JellyFishJammer said, it's not fair now to really judge the season, since only a few episodes have aired so far. However, out of those episodes, I think the season is proving to be a huge comeback. "Single Cell Anniversary" reminded me a lot about the feel I'd expect from season 3 episodes, making it one of the very few post-movie episodes that's done that for me. Still, we need to wait until more episodes air. Season 5 had some great episodes at first, but halfway through the season, the episodes started to generate mainly negative reviews from users here including myself.

Season 1 is still remains a classic and I don't think they'll ever be able to create a season that lives up to it.

Considering how almost all episodes are getting 7's, I think PRAISE is what we're probably over-thinking.

Excluding season 7, what's your favorite post-movie season?

I'm not sure. I think I'll go with season 4, since it did have some really good episodes like "Krusty Towers" and "Where's Gary?", despite it having some really poor ones.

I think Season 4 had a great first half, but everything started going downhill after Wishing You Well.

I actually think the opposite. It had a weak first half, but then in the second half it got much better.

That's also what I think. The beginning of season 4 wasn't too terrible, but the episodes seemed to be too fast-paced in their storylines, and their animation was rather poor. I'd say the second half had the better episodes, with the exception of a few bad ones like "Once Bitten" or "Hocus Pocus".
