Right, what's so unique about Naruto's villains? |

That post is purely exaggeration. |

Yes, compare anime villains to insurgents who murder hundreds of thousands of innocent people, torture people, and cut people's heads off on internet videos.

So because our plot is in it's place and our fights are actually actiony, the story's not good?
Naruto is like watching a turn-based battle system in real time.

Plot and character development overrule everything else in a fictional work. You don't have them. You don't have a good story. |
I get the feeling you made your current account just for this occasion so you wouldn't have to risk your actual account getting banned, amirite?

Does the development have to be recapped eight times during the fight and then another dozen by onlookers during the same fight?
No, and it gets absolutely ridiculous when it comes to how much they elaborate on some of those sequences.
When you are trying to kill someone, you don't think about your crappy childhood for half the battle. You think about killing the other guy so you can live.

I'm sorry, I know this is slightly off topic, but I'd like to know exactly how you can say Naruto is good at all, much less better than Avatar (I'll give you Death Note and Bleach). They just stand there, shouting out corny lines, shouting the names of their attacks, then throwing clones and needles at each other. Then you have ten filler episodes of Naruto being stupid and/or eating ramen. Zuko may be the most developed, but he's hardly the only one... |
You clearly:
(A): Have only seen a few episodes.
(B): Watch the english dub versions (Which are worse).
(C): Don't read the manga.
(D): Have only watched the recent filler arc episodes (Which are terrible, but aren't actually part of the story).
(E): Haven't seen any of Naruto part II.
The list goes on.
What bothers me about this thread is that most of the people here arguing, don't actually watch both shows. So from this, all you get are biased opinions.
I have seen every episode of Avatar and Naruto, and I read the Naruto manga. I watched avatar before ever even hearing about Naruto and grew to love the show. But as I was talking with my ten-year-old cousin, he brought up Naruto. He tried to explain it to me, but it really sounded confusing and terrible (he's ten, what do you expect), and I said it couldn't possibly be better than Avatar. But as boredom (from having to wait for new episodes of Avatar) seemed to take over, I noticed that my curiosity was taking the better of me as I saw the link to all the Naruto episodes. I thought, why not, I'll humor my little cousin. And after a few episodes of intently watching and analyzing Naruto, I became addicted.
Now after watching and analyzing both shows, I clearly prefer Naruto. I just prefer the characters, the action, and the loose fitting plot-line. Naruto definitely has a lot of meaning and a strong plot, but the plot is way different than Avatar's. I feel that I personally like the loose fitting plot-line better because I'm a major fanfiction person (I read and write them), and always have been. I just think that a looser plot makes for more fanfiction opportunities and possibilities.
Overall though, I guess it's what personally fits you. Naruto is a long commitment that requires little parients, while Avatar is a short commitment that requires a lot of patients.
I suggest that the people on here however watch both shows equally, so that they can make fair and accurate judgment. Otherwise, you're only making yourself look ignorant.

Not entirely. Every single piece of canon background is givin in the middle of a fight. Sometimes in the middle of the character about to be attacked by the other guy's best shot. Gaara comes to mind, except he was the one attacking mostly. Definetly Rock Lee. "I never was good at ninjutsus, so I worked hard at taijutsu." Childhood sucks, but it can make you a stronger person sometimes. Great message and all, but yeah, it gets redone a couple dozen times in Naruto. Not knocking it, but don't deny it either. The only characters who seem to have had normal childhoods are Shino and Tenten. And that's only because they haven't poured their soul while pouring out blood, yet. |
