OK, can we stop talking about the book please? *points to sig* Anyway, I highly doubt censorship issues would be the cause of Azula and/or Ozai not dieing if they don't die. Zhao and Jet died (though, offscreen really) but the point is that they did die. It'd be screwed up if the creators had to alter the entire story for the sake of censorship.

And that is why Ozai and azula should die.

You didn't explain why. You want Azula & Ozai to die simply to say screw you censorship?

I want them to die because that's what I've been waiting for for two years. They killed off Zhao, Jet, Yue and Combustion Man, so why not the two main villains. We have been told several times that Ozai needs to die. Seeing Ozai and Azula rot in prison is not satisfying.

What if you LITERALLY saw them rot in prison in full biological accuracy to the process of decay? Insects eat away the soft parts of their bodies; eyeballs, tongue, and genitalia, they bleed from every oriface, their flesh seems to shrink around their bones, then bloating, followed by bursting of the chest cavity for gas release, their meat blackens and their features deform until everything but the bones are eaten away, followed by disintigration of the skeleton, collapsing into a vaguely human shaped pile of bones which gets gnawed on and consumed by scavengers until their remains are buried by time, all of this in a 75 second time lapse sequence. Would that be satisfying? I know I'd find it to be the most memorable sequence of any cartoon ever . . .

Anyway, to the original poster, you make great points. Although, I'm unclear on the part of Ozai/Azula staging a ceramony in which the crown is passed to Iroh/Zuko. Would they be pursuaded to voluntarily do this or something (which I don't see happening) or threatened with their lives into doing it?

    BTW, I love historical referencing

Most likely more than a bit of threatening would be involved. I think that they would force Ozai to hand over power to Zuko because doing so would be a lot easier than making Ozai do everything they needed him to. Once Zuko has been accepted as the new firelord Ozai can be executed (unlikely, but it would satisfy amdragfreak no doubt) or he can simply be thrown into maximum security prison 10 miles underneath Ba Sing Se, with several thousand earth bender guards to watch him 24/7.

Just because Aang might initially think that he has to kill Ozai does not mean that he will. This is where my theory comes in that just before Aang is about to deliver the killing blow, Ozai will taunt him, saying that he has given orders to all of his genrals that if they recieve news of his death they are to cause massive world-wide destruction in revenge. Seeing the only way out, Aang takes Ozai prisoner instead of killing him, which would of course have been Ozai's back-up plan all along. What Ozai didn't realize is that Aang may well do somthing to him to ensure he doesn't rry to escape...

Your talking about the girl who managed to convince an entire battallion of earth kingdom soldiers to turn their backs on the country they were trained to protect while letting the Fire Nation take control of the city. And that was just through talking! Honestly I wouldn't trust her to live with those kind of persuasion skills. She also managed to talk Zuko into betraying his uncle and the girl he had just gotten to know, which is pretty impressive considering he was just trying to challenge her to an agni kai a couple minutes ago. And think, daughter has to learn it from somewhere and I doubt mommy has those kind of skills so it had to have been from daddy dearest. Those two are a danger to have alive.

The Dai Li was never loyal to the Earth Kingdom, they were always loyal to Long Feng, and from there they transferred loyalty to Azula.

Zuko has always been conflicted and Azula being very observant took advantage of that, and gave him a chance at what he thought was happiness.
