So, why do you think Katara just doesn't heal Toph's blindness?

lol. i can just imagine her saying it in mccoy's voice, too.

and you can only heal something that's been damaged. toph's blindness isn't an injury. it would be like "healing" someone's eye color.

so far with all the healing abilities seen (including the spirit oasis water) all we know is that katara's maximum healing ability is bringing back nearly dead people, who are badly wounded. blindness is a disability which one is usually born with. in toph's case she is born being blind so, if im not mistaken, her disablity is withen her DNA or genes. both of which cannot be fixed by healing ablities.

Blidness that you are born with (which is what I'm assumeing Toph has) is genetic. The parts of your eyes that allow light to be reflected and transmisted to your brain are not built correctly and thus the person is blind.

Katara can rebuild a wound to how it was before, which is what healing is. But she what change the structure of something like Toph eyes. And its the structure of Toph's eyes that make her blind.

Normaly it is due to your eyes not developing properly and not due to your genes.

Well, the genes for, say, an optic nerve could be turned off. I don't think even the oasis water could turn inactive genes on. That could cause cancer an other such horrible genetic maladies. But to me, Toph looks like she has cataracts, and those aren't genetic, and I've never heard of anyone born with cataracts. But she could also have a problem ala Geordi LaForge (ST:TNG), and he was born with his blindness, and his eyes are also freaky and pale.

I really hope you aren't calling Toph's eyes freaky. I might have to take some offense.

I think if Toph could see, she would go crazy about taking everything in so fast. She liked to see Sokka though. But imagen seeing with her eyes, and her feet.

Idk, I don't think she would nessesarially go crazy.

She'd have to take it slow and not have lots of bright lights waved in her eyes.

That happened to me after I had my surgery. Not fun at all.

One second peaceful black, the next some annoying little kid from across the room standing over you with a flashlight.

I'll always wonder how he got that thing...

But anyway, that's why they call me Betty!

The same reseaon why she is unable to heal Zuko's scar. Blindness can not be "healed" It is a disability, not an injury

unless it was genetics that caused toph to be blind, it would be a disability caused by an injury. and she could have healed zuko's scar. it was special water, remember?

she doesn't heal toph's blindness because the storywriters didn't want that to happen. toph's cool cause she's blind and still kicks ass
