Okay it is kind of deep but unoriginal. Also about Aang, if he wasn't Avatar what is left about Aang?

And the whole point of the show is that Aang is the Avatar, so of couse his character is based around that fact. You can't say that it's unoriginal because there would be nothing to Aang if he wasn't the Avatar, because then the plot goes down the toilet. That argument is flawed. It's like saying "If spongebob wasn't a sponge, there'd be nothing to left to his character"?? All Aang's problems stem from being the Avatar. Take that element away, and he'd be just another monk who was killed in a firenation attack.

Then Aang is very unrealistic! Can anyone here relate to Aang? If so post and say why.

Can you relate to spongebob, or any of the other character's you compared the show to? I relate to him, just in a smaller way. When??I avoid things, there are concequences. It's a fantasy type show, you shouldn't be able to relate all that much, becasue ther is no Avatar in our world. And it's meant to be that way. He's not unrealistic, he's an embodiment of what happens to many of us, just magnified on a massive scale!

Everyone avoids some things in life. Avoidience is just a part of life. So that means everyone can relate to Aang. I mean if anyone can relate to Aang's personality. Yes the show is a fantasy but that doesn't mean that the characters don't have to be realistic. Imagine if a perfect kid had a show were he did everything correctly no mistakes but it is a "Fantasy" so logic doesn't matter!?

Well it's you're opinion it doesn't make it true Zuko and Aang are very deep Aang doesn't want to face what must be done if he stayed he'd be killed he wasn't brave enough o stop the war before it began but he's here to make up for it and the Fire Lord is more currrupted than evil with a lusty personality for power.

My favorite part of the show, the reason I watch it, is for the character development. At the beginning of the series, Aang was na??ve and childish. As the series has continued, he has grown to realize the seriousness of the war and his part in it, and as such he has been taking on more responsibility as the Avatar. Sure, he still may be optimistic and happy-go-lucky, but he has grown up ??? and he still has some more to do. All the characters are like this. They are changing as they face their challenges.

Also, characters that were shallow and straightforward at the beginning have been flushed out and made complex by filling in their back-story. Zuko is a key example of this. At first, he was perceived as a simple villain, but as his back-story is revealed it becomes clear that there is much more to him. There are reasons he seeks the Avatar, and those reasons are changing as the show progresses. It???s not a simple hatred.????

My point is the characters are being developed. When we finish this series, they will not be the same as they were when it started. This is what I enjoy in movies, books, and this show.

Wow, I don't know if you're contradicting yourself, or are??just confused. I for one don't know whwere you're going with this particular argument. So if everyone avoids things, then everyone relates to that PARTICULAR aspect of Aang's personality. I don't know where you're going with the "perfect kid" thing. That's just a contradiction to your first argument, which was that Aang was to "happy" and childlike. As for relating to Aang, people hate him for mistakes he's made:Check. He's dealt with the death of a fatherlike figure/friend:Check. He has problems with girls/friends:Check. He's been given a responsibility that he can't handle:Check. So, give me an argument that isn't about Aang's personality.

Anyway I don't understand you're reasoning for being here if you hate a show then you don't need to come to the boards you're not flaming so that's okay but many people were banned from here because they didn't understand this like Moe_q8 WierdAlOwnsYou and many others.

This show is anything but shallow. In my opinion anyone who says otherwise clealry hasn't been following the story.

I wasn't too fond of Avatar in the first season, but I began to get interested during the siege of the north episodes (i came across them randomly). From the first episode of season two foward I was hooked, mostly due to the more deep plotline. (Ive begun to watch the first season on dvd, btw).

Aang- Happy and optimistic 24/7? Have you watched the movie? Obviously not. You're being presumptious. Sokka is not goofy all the time either. He usually intends to be serious, but gets excited and looses control. Katara is the glue that holds them together, but has her bottom line too. Toph is a little sassy, but she does have feelings, sure, she's a powerful blind earthbender, but due to her blindness, she has limits and can get frustrated, another emotion. Zuko is not an official good guy, he is patriotic towards his country, and wants to please his father without anyone getting hurt, but sometimes he stoops low to get what he wants. He is determined, but sympathetic. What were you saying about the characters not being deep?

You have to look at the show with wonder to understand watching epiosdes mindlessly isn't very smart If you look deep enough you'll see that you're wrong and if any offence was taken I'm sorry.

and just because the show is "fantasy" doesnt mean it has unrealistic characters these characters have a lot more heart and sould in them than any other show ive ever seen and i can relate to all of them in different ways just because hes the AVATAR doesnt mean he has no character... i can relate to a lot of things aang goes throught of course not the avatar part but other aspects of his personality... the more "life like" aspects should i say.... every single character on this shows struggles with problems??that all sorts of people in real life struggle with rlationships death the list goes on...

and since when is this show not "deep" if you??actually watch the show you can see that the plot??is very complicated and and??unlike any other show ive ever??seen...??i dont know maybe im just not seeing this from your point of view...????
