Why is everyone so worried about this? I think that they have to go to this ball under cover to obtain some secret in Ba Sing Sai, so they probably have?? to wear all that make up to hide their identities. The date thing is probably just a cover, so it doesn't matter that much. Also, I think that Zuko has to find a secret at this ball too, so he finds himself someone as cover.
