No doubt. I am very against him being ruler, honestly. All though it's cute and perfect and blah blah blah, he's a CHILD for God's sake! The kid just realized a few weeks ago that he didn't want to kill Aang. Iroh should've taken the throne until Zuko was ready.

Yeah I know what you mean. Also the Fire Nation shouldn't have been too keen on letting Zuko be their Fire Lord. In Ember Island Players the FN citizens APPLAUDED Zuko's death. How can they be okay with what they knew as a traitor be their sovereign?

    But getting off topic there...

What do you guys think Ty Lee thought of Azula? She admitted to admiring Azula SEVERAL times in the show, and yet she betrays her---do you think Ty Lee was lying?

I don't neccessarily think she was lying, but I doubt she was being completely truthful. Ty Lee is just a generally happy person. She looks upon everything as being perfect and fun and likable. Azula was no exception.

I believe Ty Lee betrayed Azula, because Mai taught her not to fear her anymore. It's just like Mai loves Zuko more than she fears Azula. Ty Lee cares about her friends more than she fears Azula. So when Azula was about to attack Mai, Ty Lee had no choice, but to stop her, to save her friend. After that, we can see the look on Ty Lee's face. She no longer fears Azula. Whether Ty Lee holds any love, friendship, or care for Azula, I can't tell.

Ty Lee and Mai obviously betrayed Azula. However, don't place the blame completely on Mai. Mai and Ty Lee both made their choices; they picked someone they loved over Azula.

Has someone ever moved that you knew? Maybe you weren't that close to them. Maybe you were. But, once you found out, you felt a deeper connection to them than you ever have before. You didn't want them to go. All of the sudden, you would brave the world instead of seeing them part. I feel like that's what Zuko felt like. His own sister was about to die at his hands, and all the sudden he had an epiphany. Of course, it was very short lived, but I think it was along those lines. Somewhere, deep inside that something only as strong as death could bring out, Zuko loves Azula.
That is similar to how I have always felt. Underneath it all, they are still siblings and they have had good times together as we have seen in flashbacks. As I have stated earlier, Zuko is the only character Azula has done something for without an ulterior motive and has shown any regards towards (exception being Ty Lee's feelings during 3-5).

Actually, I suppose I may agree with Jackson and Isabel. Zuko has displayed a tendancy to hope for people to live when he thinks they need to die, only to suddenly regret it when he gets his wish. A prime example is Ozai. There were several moments during the finale when it appeared that Zuko still possessed some feelings for his father. But when Ozai was actually spared, Zuko did not appear happy about it, if his dialouge from the final scene with Ozai in prison is any indication.

I believe that Iroh saw in Azula as the kind of person that he himself once was going toward, if he weren't there already. That delusion of power was broken with the death of his son. He dedicated himself through the series, successfully, to have Zuko avoid going in the same direction as Azula and Ozai have done.

As for Mai + Ty Lee currently, they see Azula as an immature brat who tries to rule and control with fear.

If that was so, then I think he should have tried to help her even more than he tried to help Zuko.

He realized that it was too late; Azula regarded him as a traitor to the cause, and it's her nationalistic duty to capture or kill him.

I think each person had their own opinion of her. Aang I think was terrified of her at first, but that turned into determination for her to go down. Katara obviously feared her but that turned into rage when she almost killed aang, but after seeing her in sozin's comet she felt pity. Zuko obviously disliked her a lot, but when he came home i think he started to like her kinda like wen they were kids. wen she attacked the temple he was concerned then that turned into pity for her at the end. iroh made his feelings clear that she was crazy. toph, she just didnt like her along with sokka and suki. as for ozai, he saw her as pefect her whole life, at least until she was defeated im guessing. mai and ty lee liked her and feared her at the same time, but decided to rid themselves of her and didnt like her anymore. as for the rest, they just feared her.

I think that Iroh would have seen that it would have been very, very difficult for him to help Azula. Her problem was not the kind of problem that could be fixed with some good advice, as Zuko's problems could. Azula could only really be helped by some kind of life-shattering experience that would completly obliterate her former sense of who she was, and what she wanted. Which is what she got. Now that her old self has been pretty much destroyed, she may begin healing.

I bet just about every other male on the show thought that of her. Well, all the males except the relatives, her servants and the males who were being hunted by her...that basically leaves Chan and we has digging Azula.

I wonder what the characters in Avatar would think if they were to somehow see this website (in an imaginary scenario where they can find a computer, get it working, and understand english), and read the comments that we have made about them. How would Katara, Aang, Zuko, and Mai react if they were to visit the shipping thread? What would Azula think if she were to visit my blog?

I'm not sure Azula would be comfortable looking at the Azula fan club. She wanted people to fear her, maybe admire her, but not to love her.
