At anytime during the series, what do you think each of the characters thought about Azula? Or what their opinions towards her were? I believe that Zuko held some kind of love towards Azula throughout the entire series. An example would have been during "The Southern Raiders."

I think everyone kind of thought she was insane, but not in the literal sense .And evil. And uber powerful. I mean, she tracked Aang across the world and terrorized Zuko fo rabsolutely no reason. That's a bit insane.

A combination of fear and respect. But after the finale, I think that that may well have morped to pity. It has become obvious that Azula is not the heartless individual everyone took her for - she is a genuine, deeply troubled and disturbed human being. When they saw what she had been reduced to after the finale, it's hard to say how they would have reacted.

    Time to hit the fanfic!

I wonder if Iroh loved Azula like, ever? We know that in the middle of Book 2, Iroh thinks she's crazy.

I'm sure Iroh loves her, in a way. But he is also disgusted by her. Wait, scratch what I said. I don't think he loves her at all. He's never shown an ounce of affection. EVER.

Hes never shown an ounce of affection currently, but that could be because he only encountered her twice throughout the series and those were times when she was hunting them down. I mean, to think he never tried to communicate with her throughout the few years after the siege of Ba Sing Se is folly. Although I'm sure he didn't know her well before Zuko Alone's flashbacks I think he barely saw her. I'm sure Ozai told her that Iroh was weak, too peaceful, etc. and she didn't bother associating with him. As such, he only really saw her as what he thought of her in season 2.

Yeah. He didn't even give Azula a present she would like. I guess Zuko got all of Iroh's love. heh. Zuko's lucky.

"Zuko Alone" made it it fairly clear that Iroh knew absolutely nothing about his niece. I mean, come on. Anyone who had ever even seen Azula should have picked up right away that this is not a person that you give a doll to. It seems apparent that Ursa was not the only person who Azula saw as favoring Zuko.

In fairness to Iroh though, this may not have been his fault. Azula was only about 7 - 8 years old in "Zuko Alone", possibly even younger. Iroh had been besieging Ba Sing Se for two years at that point, and presumably had been campaigning in the Earth Kingdom for even longer than that. He may actually not have seen Azula since she was just a baby.

And throughout those years she began to feel contempt for Iroh, as can be seen in how she thought about Lu Ten dying. I'm sure after his journey in the spirit world, he tried to be nice to her, but was met with coldness and gradually began to lean towards Zuko, who didn't seem as much of a lost cause to the proverbial dark side.

I bet they saw her as a cross of The Joker and Willy Wonka.

Azula = cross of The Joker and Willy Wonka

I bet the characters saw her as... just... the Jonas Brother's evil sister!

I have always maintained that Zuko and Azula loved or at least cared for one another. It may have been a twisted relationship, but I believe deep down it existed. I know that sounds crazy, but there are moments in the series where (in my opinion) Azula acts affectionately (affectionate for Azula, that is) towards Zuko and vice versa.

That's a actually a pretty good question. We never really heard them spaz out about Azula in the way they talked about having to defeat Ozai when she was obviously a threat. I mean, she lead the coup in Ba Sing Se and even (nearly) killed Aang but then there's really no mention of her in regards to the grand scheme of the things. They encountered her in DOBS but then it boiled down into a chase and interrogation. Yes, it was not their prime objective but still. I honestly have no idea. I'm quite surprised they didn't include her into the mast plan actually. Unless that's because...? *Drawn at a blank*

I've never noticed Azula have any affection for Zuko. Can you list some examples? I'm honestly curious.

Actually, when do brothers and sisters actually have any affection for each other? It's usually just sibling kinship or tolerance. :p

Maybe, during "The Beach?" It sounded like Azula wanted to help Zuko towards the end of the episode.

Eh, that's true. But I don't think it was out of care, but more out of interest.

I thought Azula was caring towards Zuko when she warned him about visiting Uncle in prison (3-2) with no motive other than Zuko's well-being. It may not be affectionate to any of us, but for Azula that is a rare occurrence...actually looking out for someone other than herself.
