Nickelodeon (ended 2008)
A combination of fear and respect. But after the finale, I think that that may well have morped to pity. It has become obvious that Azula is not the heartless individual everyone took her for - she is a genuine, deeply troubled and disturbed human being. When they saw what she had been reduced to after the finale, it's hard to say how they would have reacted.
Time to hit the fanfic!
"Zuko Alone" made it it fairly clear that Iroh knew absolutely nothing about his niece. I mean, come on. Anyone who had ever even seen Azula should have picked up right away that this is not a person that you give a doll to. It seems apparent that Ursa was not the only person who Azula saw as favoring Zuko.
In fairness to Iroh though, this may not have been his fault. Azula was only about 7 - 8 years old in "Zuko Alone", possibly even younger. Iroh had been besieging Ba Sing Se for two years at that point, and presumably had been campaigning in the Earth Kingdom for even longer than that. He may actually not have seen Azula since she was just a baby.
I bet they saw her as a cross of The Joker and Willy Wonka.

I have always maintained that Zuko and Azula loved or at least cared for one another. It may have been a twisted relationship, but I believe deep down it existed. I know that sounds crazy, but there are moments in the series where (in my opinion) Azula acts affectionately (affectionate for Azula, that is) towards Zuko and vice versa. |

I've never noticed Azula have any affection for Zuko. Can you list some examples? I'm honestly curious. |

Maybe, during "The Beach?" It sounded like Azula wanted to help Zuko towards the end of the episode. |

I'm sure Iroh loves her, in a way. But he is also disgusted by her. Wait, scratch what I said. I don't think he loves her at all. He's never shown an ounce of affection. EVER. |
