Im not sure if this has been brought up or not, I don't recal there being an offical waterbending animal.

As a review of other animal benders

    Earth - Badgermoles

    Fire - Dragons

    Air - Sky Bison.

    Water - ?

So what do guys think should be a waterbending animal in the avatar world?

it's been brought up repeatedly. the general outcome tends to be people suggesting the unagi and/or the sea serpent, both of which seem to be too hostile to work, then people saying something along the lines of "it's the moon and sea so STFU NOOB /thread"

there's been no mention within the show of an animal familiar for the water tribe, unless you count the koi fish.

wrong, watch the siege once again, the first waterbender learn it from the moon, so its officially the moon, but the animal is represented with the wolf, ex: the wolf warriors.

Very obvious too. Just watch the season one finale and they flat out say "The moon taught us waterbending."

I really don't think that the waterbender's have an animal. I think that the wolf thing is just a culturaly thing, like the lemers are to the airbedners, neither have anything to do with bending.

The moon never made sense to me. The firebenders draw from the sun, but they learned from the dragons. It seems like there would be some other creature that was the original waterbenders.

Moon : Sun :: ??? : Dragon Obviously they said they learned it from the moon, but what animal would waterbend? A water Avatar would need a companion animal, too, y'know.

You missed the point of the question. I didn't ask how the waterbenders learned how to waterbend. I just was curious what animal can waterbend since all of the other elements have animals that can bend.

Since the other creatures (sky bison, badger mole and dragon) are all made up, the waterbending creature would probably be something like a sealmonkey or a giant octopenguin.

But who says it would need to be a bending animal? Could be a gaint koi fish or something.

They saw how the moon pushed and pulled the water and learned to do it themselves. Simple as that. Although it makes no sense, but neither does badermoles.

It's funny how most people missed the point of the question.

He's asking if there is a waterbending animal NOT how the waterbenders learned to waterbend.
