The writers wouldn't change their story concept because of a voice actor not being able to voice the character. Hopefully Mako finished season 2 and a fair amount of season 3 before this. Rest In Peace Mako. |
I didn't say change the story I just brought that up sooner or later Zuko and Iroh will be found out and they will have to leave Ba-Sing-Sei Azula could of killed him at any point.
There's a possiblity that there will be a "funeral", for lack of a better word, in one of the Avatar AIM chatrooms. I'm still working out details.
Rest in peace Mako. You may be dead, but what you've done for the people of the Avatar fandom will live on forever. Thank you so much.
I say that we all take a moment of silence today, just to remember.

I don't think that Iroh will leave Ba Sing Se when he makes it in. His character and that city are so tightly bound that anything huge that happenes to him will end up happening in that city.
And Azula isn't cool enough to kill Iroh.

You're right Azula may end up dying herself.
well, after Richard Harris died, we all know what happened to Dumbledore.
.
Oh CRAP!! Yes..this could be even worse than we thought...
RIP Mako. Avatar won't be close to being the same without you.

I met him once in LAX a few years ago. He was a really neat guy and everything. I will always remember him as the voice of Aku, Uncle Iroh, his roles in Conan the Barbarian, and The Sand Pebbles. Rest easy Mako Iwamatsu, or Makoto Iwamatsu. You will always be remembered. ??}??R ???????? |
In the back of my mind, I had thought this was a distinct possibility given his age but had hoped the creators would have had foresight about this??potential event??and prerecorded him. I was thinking about just this possibility the other day when I was watching Toy Story2 and was thinking about Jim Varney and how he must have worked on the film almost up to his death.
Although I am saddened to lose such talent, my condolences go to his family who lost more than a voice.

Certainly it would be insulting??if they asked like that, which I doubt they would have. I would think if it came to a lay-person's mind, like my own, that those in the business (given they have had these experiences before) would have thought in advance of the possibility that an actor might pass. All I was saying is that I when I was thinking this might be a possibility I had been (selfishly) hoping the creators had thought of it as well and perhaps (selfishly) we could enjoy his talents for as long as possible. I do not care for the inference that I??was??saying they should be breathing down his neck during his final months just to make the studio and us happy as I most certainly was not.
Mako was a??professional and since he was sick he would understand if not??volunteer to do his voice acting ahead of schedule.
