They didn't have much of a choice. They already planned this to be a Katara and Zuko centric episode.

Well I dont really mean just this episode... EVERY episode of Book 3!

Well, The Runaway was all about Toph and Katara. That was basically a full episode dedicated to Toph.

She's had her moments this season. Probably the most important character in "The Eclipse" the whole center piece in "The Runaway" and in that episode basically had her background arc tied up. Not to mention she'll have quite the moment in the next episode. Seeing...er...not seeing her self as a man.

Idk, I think that for all the humor that was shown in the little that we've seen of the EIP, I think we will get hit with a big question or cliffhanger or something in that epi...

it will lead us in with a false sence of humor and shiping and then strike us down with something so....so shocking that most of the fans will 'sploe long before the final...

at least that seems what might happen. this one had a bit of that in it with just one line at the end....I can't wait to see if the next will have something similar to that!

Why cant Ozai do anything for himself. Lets send his children to do his dirty work. Would he even mind if azula gets killed?

Azula? Yes I think he would care. He seems to adore his daughter. In ways only a crazy dictator can.

I don't think adore is the right word. I just think he trusts her more than he does Zuko. She is more ruthless, like Ozai. There has never really been any proof that he actually likes Azula, but it's pretty obvious that he enjoys her company more than Zukos.
I think it's because he thinks she's stronger and won't hold back at all like Zuko would. Zuko was good, but confused.

I might be wrong but it seemed hinted that he cared about her due to her natural skill. Zuko said something like "He said she was born lucky. He said I was lucky to be born." So either Zuko was a preemie or he saw something in Azula from the start that wasn't there with Zuko. The craziness inherited from Sozin perhaps?

I think Ozai was referring to the fact that Azula showed exceptional skill. She has mastered using lightening, even something Zuko hasn't. It was nothing personal on any level.

She does have skill. We can tell that. The crazy blue fire, lightning bending, and Jetpack!Azula. I think her skill ranks up there with Iroh's. But then we don't really know Ozai's skills. All we've seen so far is his lightning.

And the fact that he keeps a wall of firing surrounding him 24/7 =p He's got to be really powerful, or else Aang wouldn't be scared. Plus, the commercials show him epically firebending. I'd say he's pretty good =]
If you watch the commercials carefully you can also see that his inner flames are white, which is the hottest colour of fire, while everybody else is orange/yellow and Azula is blue.

The thing Zuko was nice too bad Katara went on like Jet

And Azula, you would think from all her minor defeats to wait to attack at the comet arrival instead of risking her life

    Great Episode

    10 out of 10

Oh yeah the bloodbending wasnt what I expecting but it compelling

You've got to realize that Azula is going out of her mind. It was a very large discussion here a few months ago. This was her first of many insane acts of desperation. Don't be too surprised.

Well, Azula is different. She's lightening. But the white color says a lot about Ozai. THIS IS SO EXCITING!

We've also seen her small and learning to Earthbend in The Firebending Masters. We've seen everyone (important) small now haven't we? Her then, Sokka and Katara in The Southern Raiders, a baby Aang in The Avatar and the Firelord, and young Zuko in Zuko Alone.

It felt a little rushed for an Avatar episode. I wasn't expecting the raid at the beginning of the episode. I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Toph is like a second comic relief character, if Sokka isn't nearby. But she's also a strong fighter, which is why I think she'll have more time in battle. Besides, Sokka's Master was Sokka centric, The Beach was Zuko, Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee centric, The Runaway was Toph centric, and The Southern Raiders was Katara centric. Aang is in all of those, but he had most time in Nightmares and Daydreams. Katara was the only main character that didn't have an episode centric to her, and this episode fixed it.

Well, she's not one of the most interesting characters. She gets as much attention as she needs. Most of her inner quarrels have been dealt with. People like Aang, Katara, and Zuko still need to be developed. Well, not so much as Aang, but now we have to watch what makes him decide to take on the Fire Lord. Katara and Zuko are quickly becoming almost as important as Aang. Toph has been developed and there's no more need to focus on her.

I think that Nightmares and Daydreams didn't do much for Aang. It just basically repeated the obvious: he's scared. I think the Aang centric episodes were more in the second and first book. This book is more about developing everyone else.

Yeah, at the beginning of the episode, I was like huh? Why are they getting attacked 0_0

Wondering what happened to the other group still. There were still FN airships in flight after the gaang left, so wouldn't they have been pursued?

You forgot the Painted Lady which was Katara centric. But it didn't really add anything to her character that we didn't know.

I don't think he'll be brought up again. He's already been declared dead by the writers of the show, and there's really no need for that topic to be touched upon anymore. It was just brought up in this episode to scare Katara and compare her to someone else.
