Azula? Yes I think he would care. He seems to adore his daughter. In ways only a crazy dictator can.

I'm kind of confused by your question, but here's what happened. Azula started attacking which obviously took everyone by surprise. They shielded themselves and Toph immediately started digging a tunnel to travel through. Appa refused to go into it, so the more important members of the gAang (Toph, Sokka, Suki, Katara, Aang, and Zuko) decided to take Appa and fly out. The rest of the gAang used the tunnel to escape. Zuko tried to distract Azula and after a huge impact during one of their fights, he fell off the air balloon and the gAang caught him on Appa. So, now the gAang is split in two. |

I don't think he'd be too happy to know his pride and joy, his prodigy, nearly plunged to her death.

I think Ozai is more wise than that. He knows Zuko will come back for him. I also don't think he really wants his son dead. I don't think he cares enough. If anything, he would've sent Azula to kill the Avatar instead of just Zuko. The Avatar is their priority, not some stupid traitor. So, I don't think Ozai had a hand in this. It was all Azula. |
Let's see, where to start.
1. I thought the beginning was a dream until it cut away from Zuko to the others in the tunnel.
2. Dear god Azula, without her friends she's gone completely insane! I knew from the clips of her in the preview commercials something was off with her but this is just amazing!
3. Zutara and Sukka? Whyyyyy writers, why!? While I did love the amazingly awkward moment...Suki doesn't love Sokka! T_T She's just confused, Katara is the one she really wants! And Tokka is open for business!
Speaking realistically that looks nigh impossible now. Not enough time and too much Sukka. *sigh* Next episode looks like Kataang, however it seems more like the Kate/Jack kind of romance from LOST rather than something enjoyable.
4. Ninja Katara. Auto 5 stars.
5. Bloodbending returns! Boost to 6/5 stars.
6. Not having to do with this episode, but the preview for Sozin's Comet--Avatar has officially un-become a kids show, as soon as Aang says "Looks like I'm going to have to kill the Fire Lord." Amazing. So glad they didn't dumb it down for the children.

::snip:: but it's pretty obvious that he enjoys her company more than Zukos. |

I don't think adore is the right word. I just think he trusts her more than he does Zuko. She is more ruthless, like Ozai. There has never really been any proof that he actually likes Azula, but it's pretty obvious that he enjoys her company more than Zukos. |

He doesn't want his son dead?!? He friggin' shot lightning at him! And just before that he said his penalty would be far steeper than banishment. Only thing worse is imprisonment or death. And lightning to the face doesn't do much imprisoning. And who said they were JUST there for Zuko? All Azula said was that she was going to celebrate being an only child. Seems like an added bonus for Crazula. |
Thoughts on the episode:
- Incredible fight sequence between Azula and Zuko
- Azula should keep her hair like that
- Good bonding episode between Zuko and Katara (no, I'm not a Zutarian)
- Great animation during the final segment
- I see a smashed mirror w/blue flames scene in Azula's future
And a new episode tomorrow!! Funny one too!!

I might be wrong but it seemed hinted that he cared about her due to her natural skill. Zuko said something like "He said she was born lucky. He said I was lucky to be born." So either Zuko was a preemie or he saw something in Azula from the start that wasn't there with Zuko. The craziness inherited from Sozin perhaps?
