But Azula will go crazy =D In some of the previews for the finale, there are scenes of her looking completely mad. That's why we're all jumping on the fact that she's going mad. and are some of the pictures that depict Azula's insanity.

We only have two scenes in which Azula is looking absolutly wild. As Katara proved in this episode, just because you have several scenes in which you look evil-insane, it doesn't mean that you're like that all the time. I'm not saying that Azula isn't about to go absolutely wild (I'm looking forward to it far too much), but she will maintain her cunning, tactical genius, etc, in short, the things that make fights involving her so fun! Indeed, her new insanity may even prove beneficial for her. Firebending can be fueled by strong emotions and a strong drive. From the looks of things, Azula's emotions are nothing if not strong now, she has definitely developed a strong drive to kill Zuko. Azula's obsession with getting rid of Zuko all began when she decided that her mother liked Zuko better than her. It makes sense that that obsession will ultimatly come full circle back to it's begining.

But the sad thing is is that her anger won't help her. Bending lightening is a difficult task, and being so out of balance and filled with hatred with make it impossible to bend. The sad truth is she'll just be left with firebending. But when Azula goes crazy, she goes CRAZY. A couple of scenes like that means much more when they're of Azula then any other character. Any sort of slip in self control with Azula shows that she has some serious problems to deal with.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnJusfXT8wg

Watch this. It clearly shows that Azula will use lightning in her final battle with Zuko. As you said, bending lightning is a tricky process, so we know that Azula is going to retain enough sanity to accomplish this task.

    EDIT:

    Here's a better quality one.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=iMqRK358wWw

It has all three charcter specific commercials on it. The Zuko/Azul one where she bends lightning is at the end.

"...but I had no idea how close we'd become."?
Are they trying to appeal to Kataangers again? XD

I think they pretty much just confirmed that Kataang will live on. I honestly think that Zutara is in the minds of the foolish. I don't want to start a war here, but even though there are small things that supports Zutara, there are larger things that support Kataang. Zutara would've been epic, though =]

Yeah they pretty much did. Poor Zutarians. lqtm.

Strangely enough though, I never though Zutara would work at all before this episode. Katara, I thought, was just too...I dunno, nice/timid/whatever for Zuko. Well, her rage-fest blew that right out the window. >_

Lol. It would never work, anyway. Aang and Katara balance eachother out. When Aang is overcome with emotion, it's always Katara who's trying to make things right. Aang desperately tried to make Katara see that killing won't make a difference, and he succeeded. They just make sense. Zuko is more stubborn. Maybe he should marry Iroh =p

It was fast paced (the beginning was great even if the fight came quickly) but then it immediately jumped to a new plot line... Something totally different. Zuko and Katara's "field trip" though action packed and fast still felt rushed. I'll organize my thoughts once my new episode frenzy rush wears down a bit. The creators said it'd be intense and a "tear-jerke". If the flashbacks were handled better and we saw more of the significance of Katara's relationship with her mother, then it would've induced a bit more tearbending. Moar tomorrow.

I'd give it a 7/10 rating. The pacing really killed it for me. The flashbacks also weren't what they could've been and I'm basing them off of Zuko Alone and other minor flashbacks or memories. I liked it though but I won't find myself watching this episode for the sake of being entertained. Rather, watching certain scenes (Zuko-Azula fight for example) and dialogue (the Air Nomad wisdom for example).

I agree on the rushed part. That was really the only problem for me. I think this episode had much more potential than TBR and should've been given the hour long slot. The fight in the beginning was a bit unnecessary but it showed Azula's insanity leaking through. They should've focused less on the beginning and more at the end. IF everything was developed a little more it would've been a home run. But, I definitely think this was one of the better episodes in Avatar history. Call me crazy =]
This is why I wish that Avatar was more like Justice League in the sense that the 1st 2 seasons were nothing but two-parters.

Seeing as though this was the last season two, two-parters back to back would've been epic, and everything could've been done right.

But I'm still satisfied with what we got out of TSR.

As long as you could find something in it to keep you riveted at least for part of it, then this episode has succeeded. That is the nature of avatar; there is something in there for everyone. And sure, for us crazy Azula fans (I presume from your icon that you are one) there was no way that the rest of the episode would capture our interest as its wild start did. But in the end, all this doesn't matter. what matters is that:

    THE AVATAR IS BACK!!!

And he is back with a vengeance.
