I love plot lines with unexpected twistes, which is really hard for me because I almost always guess whats going to happen(but I've also been wrong afew times). I know the good guys will win cause of it's rating, but if the writers are as good as they seem it'll have a good twist.
*sort-of off topic* the best twist I've ever seen was in
'High Crimes', if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about. I hope there's a twist sort of like that one.

They didn't really win the fight at Kyoshi Island, they had to flee if that counts. To me it seems like they somewhat win, but where ever they go theres some sort of destruction. They didn't exactly win against Jet and Katara had to freeze him to a tree and the villagers got out safely but they lost everything.

So in a way theres "some" victory, but every victory wasn't "oh I'm gonna fight some dramatic battle and come out completely victorious" kinda like in Teen Titans (my opinion). But the villagers lost there homes, Zhao and Yue lost there life, Kyoshi Island was attacked and burned, Prince Zuko almost lost his life, Aang got rid of the firebenders with teh help of Roku but it completely drained him etc. etc. So there is no complete victory in the show.

i dont nessisarily mind the sometimes pretty predictable plotlines, i just really really really hate it when the animation looks...i dont know, it's liek really thick and fakey looking, like in "Bato of the Water Tribe" most of that eppisode has it in it but the one scene is the one where they are first in the Abbey and Aang bows to the lady. i just cant stand that!! they do it most with Katara(seige of the north 1 or 2) and sometimes sokka's eyes are like that. thats the only thing that really bothers me.

Wanna good plot twist? How about Aang giving up his life to save all mankind? I know they already did that, but still.

you know, I think you do have a very good point. Thing is, Zuko is a good example of evil being done to him...and hey the fire nation is winning the war aren't they? But I see you point anyhow...

Yue died. And the evil Azula is loose. Atleast this isn't one of those corny shows where the villian goes 'noooooo!' and evaporates^^

but come it's the real world and there is real things bad sometimes wins good sometimes win and we hope good will win but in a show it's good to see the real thing that good doesn't always win.

Well, good hasn't been winning for the past 100 years on Avatar. And what would happen if, after watching 60 episodes and cheering Aang on, he loses? What a waste of time, right?
he is right. I mean suppose you are the avatar. How would feel losing. Or getting your friends kill?

I had a dream last night... i think i was this tough bender or something and i was training Aang to fight the firelord and i trained him so hard i brought him to the edge of death. I left him resting there on the ground and went to sit down myself. Katara saw Aang and got really mad for what i did to him and she started throwing shurikens at me! I don't even know where she got those! I think from Naruto? How weird! Although, i might just make it a fanfic! Replace the Shurikens with ice crystals... sorry, totally off-topic.

That's a cool dream. I'm curious, how do you dream about a cartoon? Were they still cartoon drawings or real people?

i agree they are making this show too cheery there is too much happiness and bliss going on during the terrible events happening in this show i really get tired of aang meeting a family whos lost a father or son to the war and then says something like??"hey lemme show you this marble trick im learning" or watch me kiss my girlfriend and play with ths lemur instead of doing my job and ending the war and bring home your loved ones" then when something stupid happens he gets all serious, aang is way too young and fickle to bear this kind of burden. i feel sorry for katara because shes trying to have a relationship with aang but shes too busy being his mommy!

Aang lost round??1 of the Azula vs. Aang fight on top of the drill...and I also recall both Katara and Sokka being beat by Ty Lee and Mai...good guys haven't always won their fights...its pretty safe to say Zuko's lost all but a handful of his fights, against the Earth Kingdom thug in "Zuko Alone", round 2 vs. Katara, round 2 vs. Aang in the 2nd episode on his ship when he caused Aang to fall in the water, and against Zhao in the the 3rd and 20th episodes

When you say lose, would you qualify Aang losing Appa as a complete loss? Because, if I remember correctly, they have yet to rescue him.??

As for Aang winning his fights, well, half the fights I've seen him in he loses until an unexpected wildcard comes into play - such as Aang entering the Avatar State or his friends coming to his rescue.?? That's not really winning so much as not losing.

Seriously, in every straight fight between Aang and Azula, Azula has managed to come out on top.

As far as winning the fights - well, yes he might win them, but about a third of the episodes end with Aang grieving over some problem.

    Book 1: Water

Chapter 2: Aang admitting his cowardice.
Chapter 3: Aang discovering that the Fire Nation executed a complete genocide of the Air Nomads.
Chapter 4: Aang sees how he brought ruin to the inhabitants of Kioshi (sp?) Island for harboring the avatar.
    etc., etc., etc.
