I have no opinion or care about it either way. If you guys really are a couple outside of the internet, congrats and no, I didn't see it coming.

I know. I was thinking that's what it was meant to show, bu that it could also go for anyone, and that the focus was just on Katara. When in actuality I should have gone deeper than that, which that was just on the surface.

I'd agree, but none of the other the other main characters have been betrayed by their romantic partner. Heck, the only two main characters that have dealt with betrayal (in one form or another) are Katara and Zuko. Take that for whatever you think it is worth, but the point remains that Aang, Toph, and Sokka haven't needed to endure it and it doesn't look like they will.

But didn't you see the part where Yue said she'd never leave Sokka? Then she did! Why Yue! Sokka loveded you!!!!!111

Damn, you have bested my argument. :p

Seriously, though, it was to show how Katara acted when she loved someone and that she's willing to forgive.

And until the end of the finale, it will still continue.

i'd be willing to say that some people may take it past the end. i dunno how yet but it will happen.

Not me. Finale will settle everything unless Mike and Bryan pull a really lame conclusion that doesn't answer the "Who will Katara end up with" question. If such is the case, I'll pull out because it won't be worth arguing.

Mike and Bryan confirmed in an issue of Nick magazine that Katara would end up with either Aang or Zuko in the end. Somehow I don't see why they would leave us hanging like that unless they'd suddenly become evil.

Actually, according to Spacerac, that wasn't Mike and Bryan. It was one of the assistant writers or something.

Space, who did you say it was that said it?

There's that. I think that Katara wouldn't act like that towards Aang because she probably doesn't love him, but she was still considering him as a possibility.
Here's what I think: Admittedly, there were signs in "Awakening" and "Headband" that said that Katara was having romantic feelings towards Aang. I think she was considering it. After all, if one is to assume that she had feelings for Zuko during the first half of CoD as I do, it stands to reason that Katara would be "on the rebound" as the saying goes.

Well, Aang's been with her this whole time, she feels that he's emotionally safe for her, etc. So she begins to consider, for the first time since probably those 30 seconds in "The Fortuneteller," that Aang is boyfriend material. Headband dance increases those feelings.

Skip a little time and we are at NaD (Nightmares and Daydreams) Katara wants Aang to relax and specifically says, "Please, for me." That little line says that there's more there then just friendship for her. Sokka and Toph keep telling him that he needs to relax for his own good, so he can defeat Ozai, the world is counting on him, etc. Katara wants him to relax for her sake. That's something a potential love or more says to you, not a friend. A few more things happen in that episode that could be taken one way or another, but I think that's the big one.

DoBS time and we all know what that means. It's kiss discussion time. Katara playfully flips her hair as she talks to the guy who she thinks is "the one." They have their little chit chat, then BAM! Aang plants one on her.

Whether Katara's disgusted by it at first, resentful that he'd kiss her like that without her permission, or just surprised by it, her first moments look like she doesn't like it. However, in the next few, she leans into it, as if her brain is telling her "This guy is 'the one', remember?" So, she accepts it, hoping to find that tingling spark-filled sensation that one gets when they kiss that special someone.

Alas, Aang pulls away and Katara is still there, waiting to feel that "this is the one" feeling. It's only after she opens her eyes does she realize that the feeling never came and she figures out that he's not the one. She then has her blush and look away scene, showing a conflict inside of her mind. Her brain is telling her that Aang is the one she thought she wanted and, by all logic, he's a good choice. However, her emotions are telling her that she doesn't love him and that there was nothing there.

Thus, before what she thinks is the final battle, Katara has the emotional burden on her shoulders of telling the nice guy that she's led on that they're only going to be friends.

In summary: In 301-310, Katara was considering Aang, 310 and on, she's not.
