About the book: The book was released because that was the date set for it to be released. Simon and Schuster, the book's publishers, have other inventory to deal with and can't sit on books the way Nick sits on the episodes. They had no choice but to release it early and Mike and Brian, nor anyone else that worked on the show had no say in whether or not the book would get released. Also, I quote from a director of the show's DA.

yeah Im being rude, you want to know why? Because moron zutarians go the site I hang out at that is a Kataang forum and sputter their stupid drivel and I for one will not have it anymore. If they want to spew drivel they can do it elsewhere not at a peaceful site. Im standing up for BRYKE. I will not allow Zutarians to threaten or send hateness to them beacuse they made kataang happen. There are zutarians who have gone way out of line and Im fighting back

Geez, calm down. I'm a Kataanger too and I don't like trolls, but that doesn't mean you should stoop down to their level. AnimeAngel90 is not one of those trolls. Can't we just argue for the lulz and not for the bitterness?

I'm a kataanger as well, but not all Zutarians are like that. All ships have their bashers, not just Zutara. And I'm pretty sure AnimeAngel isn't one, either.
    Hey, thanks guys

And yeah, I'll only bash if you bash me. Which, you quite obviously were doing by bashing zutarians/me by insulting my intelligence. If zutarians are pissing you off on your forum, and you come here to bash them, how does that make you better than them? Be better than them and don't stoop to their level because it just makes you look silly. And I don't hate Bryke for making it Kataang or whatever. I hate Bryke if Sozin's Comet is true and they told us what happened before the finale aired. Yes, they didn't have a choice and whatnot, but it still annoys me. Nick KNEW the books would be released when they were, so they should have aired them before then, or Bryke should have leaned on them to air it beforehand. I dunno, I'm just upset that they have this book at all - why have a book about the finale if it was supposedly meant to be released after the finale? Who would read it? is that the only reason they had this interview? I dunno, it just sounds stupid to me >_

They weren't through with the finale at the time they were at NYCC this year, so it stands to reason that was another reason Nick withheld airing the rest of the episodes before the book as to come out.

By the way, has any moment where Aang and Katara had a "fluff" moment been brought up in any episode other than the one that it happened in?
No, but what's your point? Because there aren't any inexplicably romantic Zutara moments to speak of at all.

Ba Sing Se catacombs. It's been brought up post-CoD.

Also, I submit that Sugar Toes is under even more pressure than Zuzueen to have its moments be brought up again because it is the "DNA of the show" (as many Sugar Toesers have quoted from Mike and Bryan). It seems quite odd that this "DNA" is never brought up post-the episode that it happens in, if it's brought up at all; I'm looking at you, DoBS kiss.

But point being, the moment in Ba Sing Se wasn't romantic. It was pity. Try again please.

Woah, woah, woah, back up. Tell me something. When was the last time you revealed your most life-altering experiences to someone out of pity?

They talked about their mothers, Zuko talked about his scar, and I doubt Katara would be that upset at him if all she misplaced in him was pity. If you are actually denying that she's acting like she got her heartbroken by Zuko, you aren't very attentive.

CoD was romantic interaction between them. Now, please present when "DNA" moments were brought up again.

lol and heres one for all the Zutarians out there, cus they seem to be getting bashed a bit lately, and to show that Kataang shippers (aka me) can have a sense of humour about their own ship.... Cus i gotta say, this one is good.

That part was not out of pity, but she was going off on Zuko in general, who she saw as representative of the entire Fire Nation (fallacy on her part) who killed her mother. She was simply going off on a tangent, rattling off the things she hates most about the Fire Nation, to the person she saw as the Fire Nation. She was telling Zuko "I hate you because you killed my mother." Not baring her soul. Offering to heal his scar, that was out of pity. Plus, she talks about her mother on several occasions. Katara: (uneasy) Aang? Before we get to the temple, I want to talk to you about the airbenders.
    Aang: What about 'em?
Katara:Well, I just want you to be prepared for what you might see. The Fire Nation is ruthless. They killed my mother and they could have done the same to your people.

(This wasn't her baring her soul either, this was just informing Aang of the sad truth that his people are dead.)

    ---------

Katara: See this necklace? My mother gave it to me.
    Haru: It's beautiful.
Katara: I lost my mother in a Fire Nation raid. This necklace is all I have left of her.

(This moment's pretty somber in tone. I'd say that was her baring her soul and proof of Harutara. Too bad Haru's gay.

    ------------------------------

Jet: Fire Nation killed my parents. I was only eight years old. That day changed me forever.

Katara: Sokka and I lost our mother to the Fire Nation.

    Jet: I'm so sorry, Katara.

    //

Katara: (growing angrier) I don't‌! How dare you! You have no idea what this war has put me through. Me personally (turns her back to Zuko and crouches down). The Fire Nation took my mother away from me.

(Katara places a hand on her necklace as tears roll down her cheek and drip off her chin. Zuko turns his head further and looks sadly at her. Katara begins sobbing, holding her head to her chest and burying her head in her knees.)

Zuko: I'm sorry. That's something we have in common. --------------
Notice the similarity. Jet, Zuko, and Katara lost their moms and dad to the Fire Nation. Katara talking about losing her mom isn't unique to Zuko and isn't zOMG Zutara proof.

Heartbroken? Please. Feeling that your trust has been betrayed isn't the same as feeling heartbroken. There was nothing in that scene indicating that she loved/started to love Zuko. She never even mentioned him on-screen until it was relevant to the plot of a specific chapter.

There hasn't been a reason (yet) for those moments to have been brought up again. They're not going to discuss a dance when everything the viewer needed to see was right there in that scene. That's one of those "it just is" things.

Was just rewatching Jet and City Of Walls and Secrets. I really don't get why so many fans are shocked at Katara's anger to Zuko in WAT. It's so parrallel to the whole Jetara parody. She absolutly went beserk at Jet when she saw him again, and the fact she was betrayed again by Zuko (poor trustful Katara). Well i'm surprised she didn't kill him. Lets just hope Zuko doesn't die.

Actually, FYI, their interaction and its parallels to Jet and Katara's is what got me started thinking that they'd end up together. Ever since episode 14, I knew Katara and Aang would not be together in the end, but, until TFM, it never clicked in my head that she'd be with Zuzu.

Episode 14 is the one where Aunt Wu tells Aang of "destiny" and gives him hope to be with Katara. How could you think after everything in the show that's happened between them that they wouldn't end up together? This show makes a point of making the Kataang so obvious the universe might as well fall on your head. Also Katara's crush on Jet took place before episode 14, when the show let the audience know that Aang likes Katara. It wasn't until then that the main couple was clear.

True. But I just have a quick question for Kataangers.

What do you guys think was the purpose of jetara? I know Zutarians think it foreshadows zutara, what with the affection, then betrayal, then forgiveness cycle thing, but what do you guys think the purpose was? What purpose does jetara serve to the kataang story?

Or is the same thing as us, and the romantic feelings for Jet were added in to make the stories different? I'm just curious here.......
