For me, it's becuase I honestly think it'd destroy the show if Katara and Aang hook up. With what the guru said, they've made it impossible for Aang to have Katara without a huge deus ex machina.

well i think it woul;d destroy the ending for me if zutara happened, it just make no sense. why would the creators mess up what they've been setting up for the whole series?

It's not impossible. Love and attachment are different. Aang could still let her go and love her. Zutara would destroy the ending for me, and not just because I'm a kataanger. It'll seem way too rushed and leave both Aang and Mai hanging.

Exactly. It would be a horrible ending. And I honestly believe that; regardless of what I ship.

The Avatar Roku thing is too shallow the way u think of it. well almost everyone thinks of it that way, but we don't know who Roku had to let go of. It could be Ta Ming, like u said, but most likely, it's Sozin. I know it sounds sort of gay but attachments aren't all about love. It could be a close friendship just like Roku and Sozin. The fact that Roku had to let go of Sozin to master the Avatar State sounds more reasonable than letting go of Ta Ming, a girl who he barely knew until they got together. I know wut ur gonna say next, why r Roky and Sozin still friends then? well for one thing. Roku had to let go of his attachment for Sozin and not his friendship for him. The thing with Aang is that he has only attachment for her, and if he gave that up, he couldn't have anything with Katara.

Actually I was going to make a comment about how all of these so-called arguments are almost direct quotes from Zutarian Evidence for the Intellectual Dummy.
