I think when Azula looked down to the right after being told she miscalculated and was feared by Mai, she seemed crushed and furious. Once the screenshots are up, majuh analyzin' to do.

Was I the only one rooting on Azula being able to forgive Mai and... even tylee too?

Seriously I thought their friendship was more than that. I truely thought we'd see a softer side of Azula on that one. That she really didn't deep down want her brother to die and that those two being the only friends she has, she'd be more willing to "let things slide".

I really didn't want to see the group broken up like this, but I guess the show is winding down and the only way topple such a strong Queen as Azula is to take away her support beams.

I still hope they reconsider everything. Azula's decision seemed harsh and made out of anger, anyone think she'll reconsider?

Seeing that she can actually show something other than calmness or silent pleasure on her face completely destroyes the image of her being pure evil. And she's crying when she is throwing her hairbrush at the mirage-reflection of Ursa. I don't thinks it's remorce, I think it's just frustration. In fact, the pictures that show her anti-calmness all look like that she is frustrated. It could be that what most people think, that she is frustrated because she became a Fire Lord with no power and a war to take care of. But now the constant family instabilities and her insane state of mind could mix with that frustration and create an inbalance in her persona, which would cause even more frustration. She might find that she won't be able to produce lightning anymore...

You see what I'm saying? I'm not really good with words so it's kinda hard for me to expain completely. There is alot more I would say if I knew how to say it...

I think what you are trying to say is that Azula's insanity is going to be like a snowball effect, where one small loss causes her to become frustrated, which leads to her messing up again and experiencing a slightly bigger loss making her even more frustrated and so on. Her frustration eventually reaches a point where she becomes mentally unstable. Am I close?

Yeah, it's a psychological thing that will have a cascading affect on her abilites and emotions. What I don't understand though is why she's venting that frustration at Ursa. Perhaps she was imagining Ursa calling her a "monster" or something, and Azula will think that her unstable state of mind is causing her to be nothing more but a monster. Maybe Ursa was taunting her, saying that she will never be anything but a monster, whe will never be a normal person, amplified by the fact that she is royalty and maybe the firelord.

This is Azula you're talking about.

I don't think so... she was defeated and humiliated, and as far as she's concerned Mai and Ty Lee are traitors of the worst kind. I just REALLY hope we'll see Mai and Ty Lee one more time before the end.

She's going to grow to regret it... I know it. Though, if my friends betrayed me, I'd be very mad too. :X

Azula thinks everything through. She plans everything and thinks of every possbile outcome. But I don't think that Azula would have ever thought that Mai and Ty Lee would go aganist her. And I think that this is going to cause a metnal break down.

Before it didn't seem like Azula let her self feel any emotions, she had one slip at the beach, but she caught herslef. Now after this I don't think she is going to be able to control her emotions any more.

No. I was hoping Azula would just give a chiding remark on how love is making her weak, etc. and then let it go like in all the episodes Mai has disobeyed Azula. I have to agree with you, I thought their friendship was more than that as well. I mean they showed each other's softer side, and then this?

I see this as the part where Azula will slowly go into madness because she lost her friends and she is suddenly failing at the things she does.

Remember this is Azula we are talking about. She is Ozai's daugther, remember what Iroh has said about Ozai, he is not the forgiving and understanding type, Azula inherited that trait.

The problem with Azula is, everyone has to agree with her, or else that person is labeled a traitor, another trait she inherited from Ozai. But I do think they being Mai, Ty Lee, Zuko, Ursa, they all do love her, they hate the person she is, but they don't hate her. There is a way to hate the type of person someone is, but still love and care about them at the same time.

Hmm maybe. It's a good theory. I still don't get why Azula spared their lives and just gave Ty Lee and Mai imprisonment when she could have killed them once the effect wore off; or even why not have them killed.

Maybe the it's the censorship. I mean why didn't Ozia kill Iroh?

It's sad for Azula because it isn't her fault that she was raised by a egotistical and power-hungry father, Zuko would have turned out the same if they switched places. It would be awesome if both could be redeemed in some way, instead of just Zuko because he was fortunate enough to be raised by good and kind people like his mom and uncle.

I think Azula will realize that power isn't enough like his dad imprinted on her..

I never saw a friendship there, maybe when they were kids but not later, because she forced Ty Lee to join her, and she ordered them around all the time. She knew Mai had feelings for Zuko and hunted his brother anyway, Ty Lee also had some sympathy for Iroh and she said so in one episode. Though it always seemed to me that Azula had more consideration with Ty Lee than with Mai, to the point of saying sorry and admitting she was jealous.

They tolerated her because she's powerful and the princess of their Nation, but Azula never respected them. And when Mai confronted Azula, Ty Lee saw a chance because she couldn't confront her alone, that's why she told her: Come on let's go! Ty Lee acted out of fear, than saving her friend, at least it looks to me.

And well Azula is a perfectionist, telling her "you miscalculated" and "you don't know people as well as you think you do" means "you are not perfect" Mai stroke a lot of nerves there. Alone, she's not perfect as she thinks she is, Ursa's ghost, and Zuko besting her...

Also, did you notice she's not wearing her Royal Crown in this shot in the Trailer? Sorry I can't upload the pic, I tried like 5 times, I found it in www.avatarspirit.net

clearly azula is having trouble adjusting to her post-war life as she is frequently attacked by demons and the FN military's conspiracy against her.

That's funny considering Mai's the one who chose her boyfriend over her "friend since she was little girl" and said that she loved Zuko more than she FEARED Azula. Feared, of all words to say. I mean you don't go betraying friends just like that either. I'm gonna have to go with the censorship.

I think that fact that she was wrong is going to tear her up inside "you miscalculated" and lead to her apparent craziness. In her mind she's never wrong and having her friend say that to her makes it 1000x worse. I don't know if she was expecting Zuko to betray everyone, but if she wasn't thats probably where it started.
