The best quote of all would have to be Azula once she was chained up and insane. The way Grey DeLisle portrayed her voice, along with the crying, screaming, and whimpering sent shivers down my spine, along with how the screen went eerily black after that. My sister just couldn't hold herself from saying 'Whoah......'
that moment was ao Epic! I was shocked that Azula COMPLETELY lost it. I really felt bad for her

I know! My sister and I felt way too sorry for her. The scene was so creepy, and that was what my sister and I discussed during the commercial. Poor Azula.... If only Ursa paid a bit more attention to her.

I don't think Ursa spending more time with her would have helped. I think she was just born that way.

I'm sure Azula's insanity and personality stems from her lack of love from Ursa. Its evident from the finale when Azula said "You always thought of me as nothing but a monster!" and "Zuko was your favorite." Not only that, but 'The Beach' and flashback scenes during 'Zuko Alone' reflected that, too.

But Ursa also planted the thought in her head that love is a waste. Even though Ursa loved her she was still somewhat betrayed by her.

You mean that Ursa is a hypocrite in Azula's eyes? Because Ursa still says she loves her although leaving her alone for several years? Well yes, but if Ursa had stayed with her then I'm sure Azula would have been better.

Not exactly. It's just Azula learned not to trust anyone from her. Ursa was supposed to be there for Azula; she's her mother! But Ursa was more there for Zuko than Azula ever hoped she would be for her. That led Azula to know that you can't trust love to get people to do what you want, and therefore the betrayal of Ty Lee and Mai.

Very true, true. But what I'm trying to say is that if Ursa was there for Azula, actually had given her maternal love live she did for Zuko, then this wouldn't have happened. Who knows, maybe Ursa is the villain in this entire thing.

I agree that I don't think this would've happened. But Ursa was just trying to be fair. Ozai had always plainly favoured Azula over Zuko. Ursa was afraid that Zuko wouldn't have a parental figure in his life, basically, and figured that Azula had enough attention. It really wasn't to hurt Azula because Ursa honestly thought Azula had more than enough attention. I mean, she was CONSTANTLY showered with compliments from others, including Azulon and Ozai. Zuko was ridiculed. He needed the attention more than she did. Or so it appeared.

Exactly. Childhood can be a stage in your life that can heavily affect your future, which is why it should be handled carefully. Unfortunately, no one, not even Ursa, could have predicted what would happen to Azula...

It's too bad, too, because Ursa was just trying to protect her children. Imagine the guilt she feels.

Yeah... You never know what could happen off-screen. Maybe Ursa tries to heal Azula. I wonder if that will be covered in Axrendale's fanficition...

So Zuko is the way he is because his father favored Azula, and Azula is the way she is because Ursa favored Zuko. If they all just loved each other equally then they would all be happy and loving and perfect!

Well, not really lmao. Ozai is a pretty f**ked up guy. Azula would be too easily influenced by him. It's in her nature.

    Azula discussion? *cracks knuckles*

One of the most fascinating scenes in the entire finale was, in my opinion, Azula's hallucination of her mother. I think that this scene provided us more insight into Azula's character than any other in the entire series. My favorite part is this section of the dialouge:

Ursa: "You're not a monster Azula - you're confused. All your life you've used fear to control everyone around you... like those two friends of yours - Mai and Ty Lee".

Azula: "Well, what other choice do I have?!!! Trust is for fools! Fear is the only reliable way. Even you fear me".

Ursa: "I don't fear you Azula - I love you"

I think that the point of this was to establish that the key essence of Azula's behavior prior to the finale was her belief that fear is the only reliable way - and that love and trust are for fools. Where that idea originated is hard to say - Ursa apparently shares a lot of the blame, but I think Ozai definitely played a role in it. This belief formed the core of a huge part of Azula's character. Once it was gone, she broke down.

I think one of the essential lines is, "You're not a monster, Azula - you're confused." That just goes to show that Azula is perfectly capable of healing and that it isn't her actual nature.

ahh yes what a wonderful scene it was Yet again i felt sorry for her.

Iroh: "You didn't need my forgiveness any more than you needed you father's approval. Still, it's nice to hear it. And I couldn't be more happy for you. You found your way, and it brought you here."

Zuko: "It wasn't hard, Uncle. You have a pretty strong scent."

hehe i love them, they make a great pair (friend/family wise)
