Sorry, I've never bothered learning how to lazy-link.

Honestly, my hopes are sinking lower with every word that comes out of Shyamalan's mouth, and every news tidbit.

    Asian warriors on horseback? Horseback?

And then Night talking about how he has a low-action tolerance level and how he's so excited to work on it because

"It has martial arts and spirituality and the supernatural, and it has Buddhist philosophy and Hindu philosophy–really, everything I talk about–all in one movie"

Great. He's found a way to use Avatar as a soapbox, just like the crapfests that were The Happening and Mermaid in the Pool.

That quote is from a different article by the way:http://www.kungfucinema.com/?p=2251

And what's with this nonsense about bending being 'extensions of what someone is feeling' or the physical manifestations of the character's emotions?

Has he even watched the show?

And his blinding arrogance just seeps through every word "I started thinking about what it meant to me, if I could imbue it with the things that are important to me. And, lo and behold, here we are"

    Here we are.

Also-I don't suppose I gould get a PM to The Refuge? Us lurkers need some love too you know?

I don't see why people make such a big deal out of it. So he's made a couple of bad movies. Avatar is so awesome he'll possibly redeem himself. And if you start complaining now - well, you'll be in a sh!tty mood for the next couple of years.

I say, just wait for the movie to come. If it turns out bad, rant all you want. Just don't jump the gun and make judgements before you've even SEEN the damn thing.

[QUOTE="_mazer_"] Asian warriors on horseback? Horseback?

The article said that was in stock footage, so it doesn't mean Shyamalan is going to have that in the movies.

That didn't come out of Shyalaman's mouth. That is the fault of the person writing the article.

    ^ this

Honestly, I can't judge ahead of time. I manage to adapt and tolerate just about any movie (unless they're little kid's movies that have a rating of 4:10 or lower- like Shark Boy and Lava Girl :lol. But, at the very least, this movie will be decent, if not, great, in my book.

His statements seem a bit like one who hasn't done much study, such as defining 'bending' an extention to one's emotions and the horseback-thing (which, I think he may just be toning down to simplier terms with reporters and etc. so nonviewers will understand)...Bryke on executive producers in this- they'll get him right on track for any mistakes made.

Another good point. You have to realize this movie isn't just for us regular/extraordinary fans, it's for those that don't know a lick about Avatar and for those that wouldn't watch it just because a boy has an arrow on his head.

Honestly, I think we need to all take this with a grain of salt. He hasn't even started filming, and most of us seem sure this thing is doomed to fail. We just have to do the same thing Harry Potter and LotR fans (and I know there are alot of those in this forum) have had to do with those movies. Yes, the movies were alot different than the books. Yes, the directors took alot of liberties. But we have to treat the movie and the tv show as two seperate entities because Shyamalan is GOING to take artistic/creative liberties, and I can't say as I blame him. That's his job. ^_^

I'm was always worried about Avatar not in the hands of Bryke. Shyamalan better not mess it up. Bryke is helping him right?

Why is it only when I do the long posts that it all gets deleted?

    Re-typing:

Bryke are executive producers, they have a lot of say in the movie production. Shyamalalalalalalallamaman won't be able to do much if they strongly object to it.

It looks like we'll soon be getting info of the cast, that should be interesting. I hope we get to see pics of them.

Those of you who think the movie will fail need to think first. We have nothing to base this claim on. We have no previews, no trailers, no footage whatsoever, not even a cast list! So I say sit back, shut up and wait for something to indicate the quality of the film, then you can say whether it's doomed to fail or otherwise.

Another thing to remember is that Lady in the Water and The Happening, his recent flops, were typical Shyamalan films. That means they follow the plot structure 'weird things happen then there's a supernatural TWEEST that explains it all'. Avatar is not a typical Shyamalan film. Sure there are some twists, but nothing like a typical M. Night film, from what I've heard anyway. Using previous M. Night work to judge what this one will be like would be a bad idea, because Avatar is like nothing this dude has ever done before.

It could be that this trilogy saves his career, he's at a very low point in it, this movie could bring it back to life. Avatar could save Shyamalan. Maybe even change him. The Happening could be the last Shyamalan style movie he ever does.

    tl;dr version: Wait and see.

If the ending is anything like the one in the book released, they will probably make it worse...

I say forget whoever thinks the ending sucks. That's just my attitude/opinion.

The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is that the movie will only be 2 hours... That's like summing up the entire plot of season 1 in four episodes. However, I'm only slightly worried because season 1's length was due to the filler episodes.

Exactly, if you strip away a lot of the filler you have about 6-7 episodes of great importance. The first two episodes will be cut slightly but largely intact. 30mins
The third ep will be represented ith a glimpse of SAT and introduction of Zhao possibly with the agni-kai. 10mins
Suki could potentially be ignored and introduced in Book 2.

You see how this will go (I'm too lazy to post anymore on it).

They can cut a lot of it down especially in book 1. Hopefully he will leave all the important bits in and retain character development.
