So does this mean that the Fire Nation has won the war. I remember Sokka saying in "Return To Omashu" that Ba Sing Se is the last Great Earth Kingdom defense left. And we all saw what happen??and the Earth King saying "The Earth Kingdom has fallen". The Earth Kingdom is and Air Nomads??are done??and the Northern??Water Tribe??having lost alot of benders due to them leaving to the South Pole. The comet arriving soon. It looks bad for the Aangang and the rest of the world. Do you guys think that??the war??is basically over?

This means that the firenation believes the war is over. That everyone thinks the avatar was killed in the avatar state and that there will never be another avatar. The firenation will drop their defenses they will believe they have won, only to be taken down right when they least expect it.

Personally, I don't think that the war is over until the Avatar is captured.

As far as the Fire Nation is concerned, it is over.

But when you think about, in most movies, 3 / 4 of the way in, there is a point, when it looks like the bad guys have won. This might be, when the good guy turn things around, and the Fire Nation is defeated. We all know the Fire Nation is going to lose in the end. But when is the end?

So long as Toph, Katara, and (since I have to say it) Aang are alive, its never over. Oh and Sokka can help too.

oh yeah their all doomed because good always loses to bad and the badguys always beat the goodguys. And somehow Azula will use the hundred or so DAI LI agents to keep control of the THOUSANDS of peopel in the city. And the rest of the EK not conquerred already by the FN is already defeated, so yeah, they're all doomed.

everyone believes the avatar died in the avatar state, ending the avatar line. they have no reason to believe that theres still a need to find the avatar. he's dead and as far as everyone knows azula killed him, the fire lord trust azula theres no reason for him to doubt that she didn't do what she was supposed to do.

thanks for that, i really feel better about this now...not!

well, here's what i think, if you stop thinking in 'avatar logic' or whatever you want to call it,??(not that there's anything wrong with that, just saying) and start thinking in show logic, it's easier to understand....name one movie or show in the past that hsn't had the good guys come out on top... obviousely, aang is just injured, the firelord will eventually go down??and no, they are not all doomed.

although, i don't know what to tell you about zuko unless i do look at avatar logic. i dunno if someone said it on this thread or another one but i think that iroh and zuko are plotting against azula and had a conversation in the cave when azula left to go fight the avatar...or he's a jerk and is sometime going to let his guilt get the better of him and will go back to his uncle...or he's an even bigger jerk and he's going to go along with azula and her plot whether she is serious about him or luring him into a trap. i personally hope it's the first one.

    *enters Zen state*

The mighty oak tree yields not to the wind nor rain, but the blight from within.

As long as there are builders, was was destroyed can be rebuilt.

Earth Kingdom is Forever(not a Zen-like statement, but hell I like it)

yeah i think that the northern dudes are gonna start training women after seeing what katara could do so that theyll have a bigger army

but now whos gonna teach aang firebending? iroh? or will zuko change AGAIN?

well i bet that since toph can now apparently bend metal shes just gonna be a beast when she attacks the fire nation

    rar

and (one more thing) how do we all REALLY know that the airbenders are all gone?
they could have gone and hidden somewhere
and they probably have a MONSTER army that is just gonna demolish the fire nation

    peace

They think the war is over because:

    1. They believed that the avatar was killed but they dont know about the avatar cycle ending the reincarnation cycle...only the avatar knows that which means then that the avatar will be born in the next tribe.

    2. Only the water tribe is left, now that the avatar is believed to be gone, then the water tribe will be easy as pie (well not really).

"name one movie or show in the past that hsn't had the good guys come out on top"

Lol, just one? I can near 20 movies!

*SPOILER WARNING FOR ALMOST 20 MOVIES*

    Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
    Saw
    Saw II
A Nightmare On Elm Street - debatable
Candyman - it even shows the funeral!
    Wolf Creek
    Last Horror Movie
    My Little Eye
    House of 1,000 Corpses
    Fallen
    Cabin by the Lake
Halloween 3 - well . . . the good guy loses, and the bad guy dies, but the bad guy succeeds to kill all the world's children
    Phantasm
The Wolf Man - The good guy dies . . . the bad guy dies . . . and even the good guy's main girl dies . . . partially because the first two were the same person
    The Haunting
    The Omen
One Flew Over the Cuckoo???s Nest - The main guy gets labotomized, but the bad guy isn't quite as powerful

And as for TV shows there are episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark with this scenario such as The Tale of the Chameleons. And every time The Twilight Zone has a villain, the villain seems to win, such as in the episodes Living Doll, The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street, and It's A Good Life.

If you know where to look you'll find villains emerging victorious over butchered good guys left, right, and center

In the end, the good guys will win. This is still a Nick show, and the bad guys aren't winning.

Again, I want to put down my bankroll on these last words.

It's not easy. The Fire Nation has a lot of time right now to consolidate its power. Without Ba Sing Se's forces drawing the Fire Nation into battle, they basically have a dominating grip on this board.

Aang needs to hit Omashu, retake Ba Sing Se immediately, do a lot of great guerilla warfare, or go straight at the heart of the fire. The more he waits, the harder it will be, especially because the Fire Nation suddenly has a ridiculous amount of troops freed up.

I'm probably interjecting too much RL warfare into the above. And it'll still take a long time for the Fire Nation to get troops into place. But, meh, I like realism. Aang will need to get healed up though.
