Even with Sozin's Comet Ozai can hardly scratch Aang?

I think it's the last option, although I still could be insane...

Anyway, You're thinking to much. My explanation is more plausible than yours, I'm convinced of that.

If you won't agree, I suggest we stop having this pointless discussion?

Thinking too much? My initial explanations were simple. Then I had to elaborate them in detail because you kept making excuses.

And I couldn't help but notice you had to get in one last insult before suggesting the discussion end. Classic cop out. But hey, if you're convinced, then you're right.

Now you're playing dumb. You know what I'm talking about. But no hard feelings. Internet is for lulz, not serious business.

It makes sense in a perspective. But in a realistic perspective, if Zuko had killed Ozai right then and there he would have ended the suffering of many. Also he wouldn't have to risk Aang's life to fight the Fire Lord where he could have been killed. But then it would not have fit the story line.

Oh come on people, not this again. Ozai basically said to Zuko, "I'm helpless. Please attack me," with a great big grin on his face. When? When in the history of storytelling has a villain not had a trick up their sleeve when they smile? He wasn't going to just sit there and let Zuko stab him. He'd just run around, wasting time for the eclipse to end or stall for time until the guards returned.

As for the lightning thing, Iroh basically said in S2 that once you release it, you don't control it. Point and click. Simply put, Ozai got lucky that bolt hit the floor before him. (Though he still probably received a few 1000 volts from being so close.)

I'm sorry but you're wrong... He tells his father that he won;t kill him because that's the avatar's job... Cmon people, how many times do I have to keep saying this, lol! Iroh said that you don't controll the lightning, instead you give it guidance. Why won't you guys rewatch the episode before posting?

Ozai was tempting Zuko and he knew it. That's why he said what he said.

And that's pretty much what I just said. Point and click. Zuko guided it right at Ozai, and since Zuko can't command it once it's released, it hit the ground. Plain and simple.

Why would he say he won't kill him because that's the avatar's job (just like Iroh said), and try to kill him at the next moment? Doesn't make sense...
Wasn't it Zuko who suggested that Iroh kill Ozai, after he himself decided he shouldn't?

And would you, using common sense would you tell someone to kill you without having a trick up your sleeves? I don't think Zuko was really aiming to kill Ozai in that scene, but I also don't believe that Ozai would tempt Zuko into attacking him, without some kind of plan.

I don't think that Iroh could have killed Ozai. I dont even think he would have lasted a couple of minutes. Yeah, Iroh is good but Ozai is better.

And what brings you to that conclusion? Ozai probably is stronger, but not by a lot, Iroh isn't sure which of the two is stronger, and if he uncertainty in that, I doubt Ozai could be that much stronger.

Firebenders are able to gain immense power from Sozin's Comet right? Well technically, Aang is also a firebender so he could also gain strength from the comet. In the Avatar state, Aang is already all mighty and powerful but since he is also part firebender he could technically gain even more power due the comet which would put him way above Ozai.

basically with the comet being there, it gave aang the boost to make aang BASICALLY a master firebender, so we were seeing an almost fully realized avatar against the firelord w/ the comet... Everyone including the firelord himself thought that if it were just him vs the avatar, the avatar would dominate, but the fight was evenly matched. You can say ozai won, but if aang had the balls to redirect the lightning at ozai, it would have been over then.

I don't believe that's entirely true. You saw Ozai's reaction when Aang was redirecting it. I'm sure he learned his lesson the last time he tried it with Zuko, he probably would have had a near escape.

Well, Aang kinda does have all four elements.

Water + Earth + Air + Fire in a combination + Sozins Comet + Avatar State = Win.

Master Firebender + Sozins Comet + Really buff = Not as much win.

So yeah, i used my Ava-calculator for that

i never heard of Ozai being a "talented" fire bender.

    he is just.. a firelord.

zuko tells that azula was a great fire bender.

I think azula went down too easily.

Well, how did Ozai retain power unless he was extremely talented.
