Ok, ok I know how the Avatar state is basically the equivelant super saiyan in DBZ or something, and the power of the former Avatars only backs up its strength even more. But come on, with all the foreshadowing of the power Sozin's Comet is supposed to bring firebenders, don't you think it should have boosted Ozai enough to at least be a formidable match for the Avatar state? I mean Ozai was supposed to be the most powerful firebender in the world, and everyone was just trying to comprehend his true power beforehand even without the comet. But even with the comet, it doesn't even seem like Ozai "greatly" overpowers just the normal Aang without the Avatar state. I know many people here tend to be a bit over-biased and nearly everyone has described this battle as "epic", but if you guys would stop and just try to realize what I'm saying then you'll see that this fight didn't live up to its great potential. Don't get me wrong, I love Avatar and the finale was good, but I think they could've easily made Ozai and Aang's battle much more breathtaking, and if they had I'd have considered the finale great. Also I think Zuko and Azula's battle was Zuko's fight to win but that's just my opinion. |
You have to remember aang, in the AS is a master Fire Bender too as well as a master earthbender, airbender, and waterbender

Wouldn't Sozin's Comet give Aang a power boost too? He is a firebender. Aang pretty much had the Avatar State and Sozin's Comet at his disposal. |

He technically did win. Seeing as he knocked Azula off her feet. |

Yes, but as some people have said before, The Avatar State gives the Avatar full mastery over the four elements even though they're still a rookie at it.

Aang isn't the greatest firebender in the world. Ozai had years of experience, while Aang had only a few weeks. |
When Aang did his lamp trick, I was kind of hoping Ozai would say something cliche like, "Now things are getting interesting," and then attack...which he did for a while, then quickly switched to defensive attacks when he realised he was facing the equivalent of a 63 level dungeon master.
I was satisfied with the fight, but like ALL fights of ANY movie/tv show/book, the action could have been kicked up a few more notches.
See this it what almost always happens in every series finale: fans want MORE. It's natural. It just means you care.
I was kind of expecting Ozai to use magic to try and put a pencil through Aang's head when that happened to try and block his 6th chakra. (If you don't get the pencil/magic trick, don't try, lol )
But you have to admit, the battle between Zuko and Azula had more head-on-head action than the one between the Fire Lord and Aang.

yeah well aang is the avatar so a couple of weeks of something that is not his elemental opposite it's like about 4 years of practice but still i half expected ozai to control the battle until aang went avatar state, and honored him by using only firebending. They would be equal and basically hold the same ground for a while and then aang would get agitated and destroy ozai, not take away his bending, this isn't x men 3. i mean actually killing him by cutting his head off with water sword, or swirling him in a hurricane suffocating him, or pushing rock straight through his stomach, now that would be epic and blocked on regular based television |
