Some thoughts about The Boiling Rock:
- When Sokka and Zuko crash land on the island, the next scene shows them in guard uniforms inside the prison. I wonder: How did they get inside the prison? The only reasonable explanation would be that they sneaked in stole some guard uniforms from the storage which they managed to find, even though it is the first time they're both there. This however seems unlikely, as this is a prison, how can you just walk in?
- The cooler... Where does the cool air come from? I doubt they have refridgerators...
- As soon as Zuko is captured, the governer mentions that he is his "special prisoner", and that he should watch out no other prisoner recognizes him, because they might harm him for being a traitor. Now my first thought was that Zuko just wouldn't leave his cell, since a giant mark on your face might make other people recognize you. However, Zuko leaves his cell a couple of times, without anyone recognizing him or beating him. Little odd if you ask me.
- How did they get that cooler out of the prison? They hide it under their clothes or something?
- Sokka mentions that he got Suki and Chit Sang out of their cells, fair enough, he is disguised as a guard so he should be able to do so. But how did Chit Sang's friends got out of their cells? I doubt Chit Sang released them, seeing he is not disguised as a guard. Which raises another thought: Since you can clearly disguis yourself as a guard with nobody noticing it, why didn't they all just stole a couple of more uniforms?
- The cooler is made out of metal. Within seconds, the cooler should be as hot as the water it is in...
- Some sharp shooting with the ballista when the guard is trying to pull the cooler back to the prison. A little too sharp if you ask me.
- I see how Suki got on the balkon where the governer was standing, albeit a bit over-athletic imo. How did the rest got there? I doubt they got there the same way...
- Azula just watched as the group was traveling upwards when Mai knocked over all guards. She could've used her fire bending to cut the lines. We've seen fire cutting through harder things then a cable...
- The way Mai knocks over the guards, I find a couple of problems: How do the things that she throws throw the guards back? It is a law that if the guard is, let's say, thrown 4 meters backwards, Mai, considering she weighs about the same, needs to be thrown back the same distance, 4 meters. Furthermore, since the prison is made out of metal, how do those things penetrate the metal? Would seem more logic if they would just bounce of the wall. And last I think she throws deadly accurate, considering 3 of those things out of one throw, not one of them penetrated the body of the guard.
Well that's about it I think. If someone could explain one of em, I'd feel a little better.

Yeah, some things are overdone for the sake of the show but the way they got into that supply room was by a ventilation shaft. You can see the metal grate hanging open before they close the door. |

In the scene where Suki captures the warden, everyone was out of breath by the time they got to where Suki was. Which means they probably ran up some stairs or something that lead to the platform.
Yes, Newton's third law does state that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, but this only applies to two or more bodies that interact with each other. In this case, the two bodies that are interacting are the daggers and the guards, not Mai and the guards. So just the daggers threw the guards back 4 meters, doesn't always mean they had to throw Mai back 4 meters, especially when you consider the situation. When Mai threw those daggers, her balance probably countered the forces of the daggers. If you were on the receiving end of those daggers, wouldn't you try to move out of the way? Well, assuming the guards did this, their weight probably shifted in such a way that made it easy for the daggers to knock them off balance and push them back.
I'm sure Mai could hit anyone she wants at any time. But since this is a kid's show on Nick, sadly, Mai's killer accuracy must be censored. Besides, I don't think that's her style.

Refrigeration isn't a new concept. It's been around way before electricity was harnessed by man.
Seeing as how no one at the beach recognized Zuko, I don't see how the inmates would. Remember this is a time where there aren't a lot of pictures. And since they're in a war, I'm sure scars aren't that uncommon.
The coolers are sticking out of the prison wall. You can see a shot of them right before Chit Sang is thrown into the cooler.
Suki and Chit Sang both had to get outside on their own and seeing as how it was the middle of the night, the prison wouldn't be heavily patrolled at that time, allowing CS to bust out his friends easily.
Most but not all metals are conductors. And it was more than likely insulated with some other materials in between the metal layer.
Mai's blades are probably made of a tougher metal than the prison walls.
The cable was most likely made of steel. In order for Azula to melt that, she would have to be right next to it and blasting it with 1500C worth of fire.
The rest of the flaws like the gunner's accuracy is kind of nitpicking and doesn't really need an explanation.

Sokka mentions he got Chit Sang and Suki out, probably he is the only one capable of doing so, since he carries some keys and is disguised as a guard. Chit Sang being out of his cell doesnt explain him releasing his friends.
As I said, we've seen fire cut through harder things. I was talking about the force the fire blast would give, not about it's heat. Remember when Zuko cuts of an entire rock with his fire bending at the end of Season 2? It would require a temperature higher then 1500 C?? to cut through rock...
At last, I think even if the metal of Mai's weaponry was harder then that of the prison, I doubt she has the force to make the objects penetrate the prison walls.
