well if they had some type of bust in, rescue dad and get out plan, toph wouldve been VERY helpful plus she could just hide under the earth until they were ready to make their move but anyways its was more interesting the way they showed it anyways

Besides, while Toph can bend metal, her seeing abilities on it are still questionable. she seems to see through vibrations though. and metal conducts vibrations even better than solid earth. she had a tougher time with sand.

In "The Awakening" (301) she was able to see very well on a metal ship. I think she could have sight there. Nevertheless, only Sokka had a real reason to go there, and this was an episode to make Zuko and Sokka friends, just like the Fire Bending Masters was an episode to make Aang and Zuko friends. The next episode will make Katara and Zuko friends, Toph was all ready friends, and we'll all be one big happy family

Well, on the ship, every time we saw Toph, she was with someone and everytime I saw her identify someone, they were making some kind of noise. Like I said, because there are earth fragments in metal, she won't be completly blind, but her sight abilities are questionable, meaning uncertan. She could very well be able to 'see' just fine on metal, but because there is very little evidence to prove it, I remain skeptical.

think of the difference between walking on the ground and walking in a "loose" waterbed

I think that Toph has problems being at water or being "suspended" in the air, but we have to remember that "bending" and "sensing" in a close sense to what Matt Murdock does are 2 different things

from what we saw in "the runaway" and "the painted lady" Toph can "see" wood and can see animals and humans as all of them have small amounts of minerals AS LONG as they have direct connection as in no water or no air between where she is and where the plant or animal is at, and no long distance.

Yeah she felt sick in the Underwater Submarines during Day of Black Sun(1). Toph has learned new things and has acheived new abilities throughout the adventure. The most important would being able to deal with iron and metal.

It seems that a running theme in this show is the prison breakout. I can think of 9 episodes off the top of my head that deal with breaking from a prison/fortress. It's safe enough for the ratings of the show, but with plenty of action. My guess is ANOTHER prison break. Maybe everyone--Kyo-shi Warriors, War Prisioners from the Eclipse Invasion, May and Ty-Lee, will be busted out at once.
BTW where's Iroh? I know he's out there somewhere...

All the characters that teach/will teach Aang bending are better at their element than he is. Katara can get water out of air and bloodbend *shiver*. Toph can bend Metal, and I'm sure Zuko will be able to produce lightning soon enough. Aaang can become proficient with all elements, but each of the former has one extra thing that makes them superior benders. A little something that Aang will probably never learn.

9 prison break episodes? I don't think they're that many but go ahead and list them.

True, but remember Toph's extra thing isn't really the metal bending it's the thing that allows her to metal bend, her blindness and learning from the badgermoles themselves.

The Avatar Returns: Aang escapes from Zuko's ship

King of Omashu: King Bumi encases Sokka and Katara in crystal

    Imprisoned: Title speaks for itself

The Spirit World: Iroh is captured in shackles

The Water Bending Scroll: Katara captured by Pirates

The Blue Spirit: Escape from the fire nation fortress

Siege of the North: Aang captured by Zuko (again)

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Return to Omashu: Attempt to free Bumi from the enemy from a "hanging prison"

Avatar Day: Aang is imprisoned for something he did in a past life

The Library: The gaang must escape the library before it sinks

Lake Laogai: Appa is broken out of the Dai Li's secret prison/base.

The Crossroads of Destiny: Katara & Zuko are thrown underground to imprision them.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

The Runaway: Toph and Katara are thrown in prison.

The Day Of Black Sun: Iroh breaks out of prison.

The Boiling Rock: Hakoda & Suki are broken out of prison.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

I found 8 episodes that involve some sort of breakout from a fortress or traditional prison, plus countless others that involve a character being captured and/or an escape sequence.

But of the ones you mentioned, only 'Imprisoned', 'The Blue Spirit', 'Avatar Day', 'Lake Laogai', 'Crossorads of Destiny' and the 3 Season 3 episodes actually involved some form of constructed prison that they break out of.

u realize u just put 8 as "involved some form of constructed prison that they break out of." and that is what DR avatar said

Return too Omashu involved trying to break out Bumi out of a constructed prison, it was just a really small prison.
