    Well, it's not TECHNICALLY a Japanese show. It's American anime, I believe. And that's not racist It's just a statement.

    Do you think you could send something to the casting person - Gail Whatever - for just being an extra? I live 20 minutes from Philly and I think it would be awesome just to be in the background or something.

    personaly, I think Q'Orianka Kilche who played Pocahontas from the movie The New World should play Katara. She's gorgeous!!!!

    I agree she is beautiful, but she is too old too be in the movie. I think the director is looking for younger kids, since they r going 2 be 3 movies they r making... so they need young enough kids to grow with the role. (similar to harry potter)

    yeah, but the thing is, the whole series happened in the span of one year...so....I still think she should be katara! even though movies do take a while to come out...so people will get older...but that's what the magic of make-up is for!!! LOL. But if you look at Dante Basco, he's 32 and he still looks young...and Kilcher looks like she won't age too much either (i.e. she'll age gracefully) in a span of a few years. just my opinion...hehe

    She does have a sort of Eskimo-esque style to her. I think she would play a great Katara. But, something about her doesn't seem warm enough.

    come on, you have to think realistically. casting directors are probably looking for people roughly around 13-18 years of age to play the the main characters. you have to think 'would he/she really be right for that role?' a while back someone mentioned abigail breslin should play ty lee. puh-leez

    They actually have specific qualifications. It's 12-15 for Aang, so I'd assume that's around what it would be for everyone else. It was just a suggestion, after all. And she does look young enough to play Katara. Katara has always, IMO, had a grown up look to her. I think she could pull it off.

    Well, the makeup thing was a joke -_-' Kilcher doesn't need makeup. she has that young and natural look that not a lot of actresses can pull off WITHOUT MAKEUP....and she's JUST 18....

    But I can see where Latinas or even Filipinas can play Katara. Latinas do have Native American blood in them (when the Spanish/French/Portuguese mixed with the indigenous ppl of the Americas) and those ancestors of the native americans DID cross the Bering Straight from Asia and migrated downwards. So Latinas could work.... And so could Filipinas (I'm one!) since they are also a mix of Chinese, Taiwanese, Spanish, Malay, Arabic and they do have that natural tan (that's also why people either think I'm latina or native american LOL) *Sorry for the mini history lesson here*

    But I'm still with Kilcher. That's just my opinion. I'm not asking you to agree with me.
