wow, worse excuse ever, I don't think that the $20 you could use to buy the DVD will drain your "saving for a car" fund.

Did I also mention the fact that I currently have $0 right now, and have no way of getting any actual cash for about a few weeks?

no, you didn't mention that. So now, see, that's a lot better excuse u got now, you should have said that in the beginning. also, by the looks of ur finacial situation, I wouldn't get my hopes up on buying a car.

hmmm, i seem to be in a real @ssholeish mood lately ..... but I still stand by what I say.

Why should Nick spend money to air episodes that everyone has already seen? They save money by picking up with 'The Southern Raiders' and going on to air 'The Ember Island Players' and the four-part series finale from there.

I suppose it's possible for Nick to air the four episodes from the DVD but I find it HIGHLY unlikely given Nick's track record.

This is insane! Nick spent probably a few hundred thousand dollars producing those episodes. They profit from the advertisments that air during the commercial breaks on primetime Friday nights. If they don't air them, and are simply testing our commitence to DVD sales, isn't that a really huge gamble?? Every week I have people asking me when Avatar is coming back. Every week. People haven't forgotten. I just can't understand why Nick wouldn't air those episodes.

Not everyone will buy the DVD but a lot of people would watch it like they normally do on Nick. Ugh, this is SO messed up. I've been involved with a lot of fandoms but this on EASILY has the most twisted producers and tactics I've ever seen. Mike and Bryan need to hire some hitmen. Or we could do that.

O.k. so I'm now getting hate-mail over this speech because many fans feel I've gone native...and have journeyed to the dark side of the force...to kiss Nickelodeon's backside.

The truth is I love Mike and Bryan MORE than I hate Nickelodeon.

My thought on this whole 'movement' is we can't change the fact that these four unseen episodes will not air on Nickelodeon...at least not before the DVD arrives on store shelves.

If Nickelodeon wants to test market fandom, then I say we tear it the he!! up. I mean you want to see how hardcore we are Nick, bring it, we'll be happy to show you, right up in your face.

We have absolutely NO control over what Nick does with Avatar. This has been the source of our collective angst for how long now?

This is the first time we are in the driver's seat and we have control over what happens to Avatar.

Nick can dismiss Avatar left and right but they cannot take away the Annie Awards or other noble distinctions Avatar has rightfully earned for being anything but that 'wannabe anime kid's show' on Nickelodeon.

And they cannot take away Avatar blowing a hole in the side of the world on May 6th in DVD sales.

I say we SHAME them into looking like complete idiots for NOT airing a high-quality show that just reeled in record-breaking DVD sales.

That was the point of my 'speech.'

You are right Raven. They did spend a HUGE amount of money making these episodes and that is exactly why, in my opinion, they are withholding them to see exactly how many fans will pour out in droves to buy them.

If they air them on TV, they gain advertising dollars between commercials but they have to spend money to air promos for the return of Avatar to Nickelodeon. However if they just release these 'never-seen-before' episodes straight to DVD, they can accomplish two things--one, they can see firsthand who the live-action movie audience will be and gauge how much money to budget for the first live-action movie and two, without spending a freakin' dime outside of the cost of the episodes, they can rake in mega-money in DVD sales BECAUSE they didn't air the episodes contained on the DVD on TV first.

    Can you see their reasoning?

After the KCAs they have a better understanding of just how freakishly fanatic we are about Avatar. So some pointy-headed Nick exec said, "I know. We'll test the market. We will NOT show these episodes on TV. We will only release them to DVD and see just how badly fandom wants them."

Remember voting for the KCAs doubled this year with Avatar in one of the categories. Only Nick knows just how many of those 'new' votes were Avatar votes.

Think like a squinty-eyed Nick executive...if you could translate those votes into dollars...can you see where they are going with this?

That would also mean they will put extra pressure on sites that allow these episodes to be uploaded and viewed online....

Glad I'm in the torrenting business, though sites are going to be swarmed with fakes... ah well I don't mind

And before people think I'm nothing more then a cheap bastard, I can't buy the english versions only the dub in my own language which just suck. And I don't have a creditcard, thus can't buy half of the stuff that is on sale in US I-net stores.

I think the best way to retaliate against Nick is to go all Azula on them and make sure they never rise from their 'shame and humiliation' by achieving skyrocketing DVD sales on May 6th for a show that Nick hasn't aired in five months.

I mean when a reporter interviews Nick about this grand DVD sales achievement but then questions why this same show hasn't aired in several months, what exactly can they say?

    *Cue deer-in-the-headlight look*

    Nick exec: "Uhhhh."

Sadly, I don't think record sales would shame Nick into anything but smiling widely while having a deer-in-the headlight-look on the rest of their face. If anything it may make them more likely to release the rest of the unshown episodes directly to video, without showing them on tv first. Btw, I am not saying don't buy the video, I am just stating with Nick you never know for sure how they will respond to anything other than throwing more Sponge Bob at it.

The parrots stay busy in 'The Parrots Lounge' while waiting for more Avatar to be shown anywhere.

I don't think that matters. I'm pretty sure they were going to release them regardless and live with what happens good or bad. Besides if they didn't air them they would have to deal with a backlash of angry avatar fans.

I agree with you, thefireman43, though fear of dealing with a backlash of angry Avatar fans hasn't kept Nick from doing whatever Nick has planned to do with Avatar up to this point. Thus I won't be surprised by anything Nick does with regards to Avatar.

The parrots go back and rewatch all of seasons 1&2 on DVD and the part of season 3 they have on tape again for the umpteenth time.

I don't care about Nick in the end.

All I care about is Avatar and Mike and Bryan.

If blowing the DVD sales out of the water May 6th does nothing to impact Nick, so be it.

We should do this for ourselves. Shaming Nick would be a perk.

Avatar is ending. I want it to end finally on MY terms, on OUR terms, with a HUGE bang.

I don't want to see it end on Nick's terms where this incredible piece of artwork is hidden underneath the front stairs as if it's some kind of half-wolf-child that Nickelodeon is ashamed to have sired in the first place.

I'm not buying this DVD to prove anything to Nick. I'm doing it to prove something to me, to my fellow fans and to Mike and Bryan.

We ARE a powerful force to be reckoned with. We only lack the faith in ourselves and each other to use it wisely and to Avatar's ultimate advantage.
