The simple answer is that following the TOS is not optional at this site. As stated in the thread we posted in the forum, posting in before the lock is off-topic and disruptive as it has nothing to do with show discussion. The purpose of the show forums is to provide a place where users can discuss the show. While sarcasm is not synonymous with trolling, it can be used to troll or flame other users. The best practice is to refrain from posting something if you are not 100% certain that it's not a TOS violation. I'm sorry to hear that you are all unhappy with the way we are treating you in the Avatar forum, but we are not handling that forum any differently than we handle all the forums on the site. You are free to contact a staff member if you have a complaint regarding the site policy.
I can find something wrong with this statement. First of all, what other forums could you find that their channel's treated them with disrepect, how many forums you gonna find with more noob overloads than ours? And how many forums gotta spoiler book that some troll might post and my army might just flame? Huh!? Yeah I thought so.
Noobs are users too and even though they are often obnoxious but that doesn't mean that its okay for a forum to make its own rules and treat them disrespectfully. The mods have to consider the best interest of all tv.com users even if they're users we dont particualry like. In the case of spoilers we have a right to set up specefic rules. But lets face it, we tend to freak out over every little thing that doesn't follow the overcomplicated rules and expectations us vetrans know.
After dealing with God's Son, all the trolls seem the same to me.
Noobs aren't the same as trolls.

AVThunderbird got the ban hammer too lawl

Why did FMA102, C_1991 and Atu_1 have to get banned! I just wish they were still here with us! Why? Why?

Cause C_1991 posted something crazy with a keyboard, FMA102 was one "Troublesome and Sick Man" as the Mods would say, Atu was a victim of a useless ban though. (Really?) Who gets banned for saying that!?

I was being sarcastic. Of course they're still here, they're just living under new names. Names which I will not mention because I love them all dearly. (not like that, save it for the unexpected consequences thread)

Thanks to the miracles of reincarnation, I believe that their spirits are still with us. At least for some of them.

Yeah, I could name at least four off the top of my head right now who have been reincarnated. Some of them don't even try that hard to hide it.

I could name one right now, but I made a promise not to tell anyone with him.

The Avatar forum is for the discussion of the Avatar TV show. Per tv.com policy, personal matters should be posted in personal blogs. Questions and concerns about moderations should be posted in the About the Forums: Ask the Mods forum.

If people have evidence that any individual was unjustly or accidentally banned, they should send an e-mail to support@tv.com.

Very few users get banned from a single violation and no recent instances of this have occurred among regular Avatar forum users. Typically, it takes more than 20 violations before a user is banned and a warning is sent as each violation is moderated.

A few reminders per the Terms of Service:

It's not acceptable to make off-topic posts simply because other users are not on-topic.

Posts that don't substantially add to the discussion are not permitted (i.e. In before the lock).

Rants and random comments are disruptive and not permissible.

You are responsible for anything you post including quoting other posts.

While a small amount of off-topic posting is understandable and tolerated, a repeated history of posting material that is not constructive to the topic on hand is a TOS violation and is subject to moderation.

Signatures should be no more than 200 pixels tall x 550 pixels wide. This applies to the complete signature area, not each image or line. Essentially, if your signature causes a scrollbar to appear, it's too large.

There has been a recent upswing in such activities, and increased moderation as a result. Once it is brought to our attention, we have to moderate any and all reports consistently.

People seem to have "censorship" confused with topicality. There are hundreds of Avatar fans, and each one has a blog where he can talk about anything he wants. There is only one place set aside to talk about Avatar. We ask that discussions which are outside the scope of the show be posted in the appropriate forum or a personal blog. That's topicality rather than censorship.

TOS policy can basically be summed up like this:

Q: Why are there so many rules? How can anyone possibly follow them all?
A: There are really only about eight basic things you can do to violate tv.com forum policy. They all pretty much boil down to basic netiquette - "play nice and don't do anything illegal." The extra explanations are provided for the users' benefit to help define those two things. We have hundreds of users making thousands of posts each day, and the vast majority of posters handle the rules just fine.

As long as you provide constructive discussion about the show and avoid making hostile and insulting comments, you won't have a problem.

    Thank you,
    TV.com Moderators
