SBC's Top 50 Best Episodes Ever! 2018 Edition

"SBC's Top 50 Best Episodes Ever" is a bi-annual, fan-voted countdown. It compiles lists of member's favorite episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants. The 2018 edition will a follow-up of editions from 2013-2016, and is a compliment to a worst list of similar name. Members will be allowed to send commentary to give kind words and praises on their picks. Wumbo will be hosting the list once again after he took a break after 2015's list.

Trivia

  • This list beat the record for the most members who participated, with 32 members sending their top 25 lists.
    • This was later beaten by the 2019 edition of the list, which had 44 members send their top 25 list.
  • For the first time, a Season 10 episode appeared on the list. “Mimic Madness” debuted at #31 with surprising controversy.
    • Also of note, another Season 10 episode “Feral Friends” debuted on the Honorable Mentions.
  • This year saw fewer post-movie episodes make it overall, with just 5. All of these, except for “Roller Cowards”, were from Season 4. Notably, this is the first time since the episodes’ premiere that “Plankton’s Pet” did not make the list.
  • For the first time, someone's submitted list had none of its episodes make it onto the list; magic the veemon's almost entirely Season 8 list had no episodes make the list.
  • The episode Welcome to the Chum Bucket was crowned by both Trophy and Jjsthekid as their favorite episode. This was the first time on any Best list that an episode outside the Top 10 received multiple #1 votes.
  • This is the third non-consecutive year that “Chocolate with Nuts” crowned the #1 slot on the countdown, after 2011 and 2015. Its appearance also marks the first instance of an episode collecting more than 400 points on an SBC countdown.
  • Due to a point calculation error, one person’s list was left off the total for “The Secret Box”. If the error was not made, it would have received nine additional points to rank 48th on the list with 66 points, instead of the Honorable Mentions.
