"Rise of the Planet of the Jellyfish" was a Spin-Off from Maximagination Studios. The Spin-Off is based on the SpongeBob episode, "Planet of the Jellyfish". The Spin-Off released on September 30, 2012 to coincide with Octerror Fest. It was The Squid's most popular spin-off on SBC.

Synopsis
The spin-off takes place right where "Planet of the Jellyfish" left off, when Patrick orders a Relish Patty without mayonnaise. Spongebob wonders why Patrick suddenly stopped ordering mayonnaise. Patrick tells Spongebob he isn't Jellion and Spongebob walks away. However, Patrick is a Jellion all along, and he's out to turn everyone into Jellions.
Release
"Rise of the Planet of the Jellyfish" was first announced on September 17, 2012 with a small written trailer. The reception to the public was well recieved. On September 26, Maxwell posted a poster for the Spin-Off. The Spin-Off premiered on September 30, and had chapters premiered 7 out of the next 8 days. The previews recieved great reviews from users. On October 12, the Spin-Off started airing longer episodes.
Reception
The work received positive reviews from the users such as Michaelmn, CNF, The Idiot Box and Sofiagirl121. It was the featured Spin-Off of the 22nd SBC-TV News. It also won an award at the Golden Community Awards III for "Best New Spin-Off".
Notes/Trivia
- The Spin-Off was originally called "Beneath the Planet of the Jellyfish", a reference to the actual franchise, Planet of the Apes, sequel. Max changed it because it wasn't descriptive of the plot.
- The Spin-Off was also originally rated PG-13. The theme was originally, "80s B-Movie", but switched to an episode theme.
- 10 shorts were planned, but the order was canceled. Only two were ever written, and no release date is known.
