why does spongebob live in a pineapple???

    ok, i know this may seem like a lame question, but my cousin happened to ask me this, and it left me stumped. i've tried searching through wikipedia and forums for an answer, but to no avail. so anyone, or everyone, do you know why spongebob is living in an pineapple? or is it simply a case of randomness from hilenburg?
